Hello everyone! My name is Sidney, "spatin51" on Fiddlerman, and I am just introducing myself to the group. I play violin, or rather I work at playing the violin. I started playing with lessons over 30 years ago, then I moved to Colorado Springs and the violin stayed in a closet until about 4 or 5 years ago when I decided to try it again. I consider myself somewhere between beginner and intermediate, depends on the piece I am trying to play of course. I am a semi-retired attorney, and can find the time to practice almost every day. I hope to be able to learn some of the more technical parts of playing the violin, such as smooth bow changes (which is eluding me at this time) and developing a professional sound. I look forward to visiting with the group and learning more about the violin each day.

@spatin51 -
WELCOME, Sidney!
I'm sure you will get it to come together soon. From what I've read/heard elsewhere, it's not like riding a bike - not easy to pick back up after a long hiatus, so don't be hard on yourself.
Were any of the videos or links I posted in Your Smooth Bow Changes Thread of any help?

@spatin51 Welcome to the Forum!
When I was in the Air Force, I was stationed in Colorado Springs for 5 years. Was assigned to Falcon AFB (now Schriever SFB) and graduated from University of Colorado while there. Beautiful areas in Colorado, for sure.
Sounds like you've gotten back in the saddle--lots of people take a hiatus from the violin--life just gets in the way Glad to have you join us--
Characterize people by their actions and you will never be fooled by their words.
