Hi, y'all.
My name is Jim. I live in the piedmont/foothills area of NC. I play music part-time, but not on the fiddle. My goal for 2013 is to add the violin in to my skill set.
I grew up playing violin & viola, but left them behind for the sultry allure of all things guitar. 
After 20 years absent from the fiddle & bow, I'm making a third attempt to return. My two prior attempts did not hold, but only because my gigs have me on guitar (acoustic or electric), vocals, and sometimes the dobro.
Just thought I'd drop in and say 'hi'.

Kind of liking what I see here. It's so hard to find a violin/fiddle forum with active folks in it. Pretty danged cool.

Hello and welcome Jim! I hope your return to fiddledom sticks this time. I also play the guitar but not professionally...not even close. Just took up the violin seven months ago. Hope you like it here!

Welcome to the forum loveofjazz,
I gather you will be contributing to the jazz discussions here and I'm always happy to get discussions going there too. Quite a few guitarists learning the fiddle for the first time on this site.
