Welcome from another relatively new person here. As another old guy (I'm 78) yet kinda new player (had my viola for less than a month), I've found a lot of help and encouragement here. I posted a video of my feeble attempt to play a scale on the first day that I got my viola and not one snarky or hurtful comment ensued.
These are a great people!

I am really impressed with the resources on this site. I know it takes alot of time to keep these sights up to date and managed correctly.
