Hi, My name is Gary and I'm 75 years old. I just had a great offer on a Cremona SV-150 so I bought it and now I'm anxious to learn to play. Looks like the best thing I've done since buying it is finding Fiddlerman.com on the web. You have so much information and instruction and music on this site. I 'm a self taught guitar player and now hope to be a violinist for the rest of my life. I live in Indiana so I will have a lot of time to practice in the winter-time. I ordered several accessories from Fiddlershop and am starting a practice routine using Fiddlerman's instruction materials. The fiddle will be here Tuesday so I'm getting excited and ready to start my new journey.

Hello Gary T!
How truly wonderful that you are all set to play violin. You have certainly come to the right place.
I look forward to hearing all about your journey and being a part of it. I learned from this site for the last five years.
Congratulations.. (remembering your name will not be hard that is my Son's name.
Take care and Welcome Welcome Welcome.
Cheers,
Toni

Hello Gary, nice to meet you.
I just started playing the violin again a few months ago, after a 42 year break. Although I did play for about a year and a half as a kid, that was a long time ago, so I had to start over from the beginning.
It is a lot of work learning how to play the violin, but as long as you stick with it, you can do it. Just don't give up and it will start coming together and you will be able to play that violin.
Just keep in mind that a shaky, squeaky, start is normal. It takes practice to smooth things out and make music.

Welcome @GaryT ! You have about 10 years on me man - respect ! I had to think twice ( well, many times ) about taking up the fiddle 3 years ago - but - when it came down to it - it was just a case of "what the heck, why not" - besides I love making music anyway.... )
More power to your elbow mate !

I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh -
