Hello everyone
I did 2 out of 3 papers for my violin ATCL (Teachers) in 1980 in Calcutta, India, then started working in a bank. First posting was literally a thousand miles away, and the last (Theory of music) paper never got done. In 2019 I asked about being allowed to do that last paper, and was told by Trinity College that they "don't offer that diploma any more". Lol, I don't blame them. 39 years is a LONG time.
Anyway, last December I got pulled into playing violin in Church, and am now really happy about it. I'm contributing.
I'm also considering preparing for the ATCL exam all over again. The exam's tougher now it seems. And muscles are stiff, fingers slow, C6-C7 problems, body hurting all over. But it should be fun.
Am thinking of converting my standby violin into an electric violin with electromagnetic pickups. I had made a set using 3 earphones (tops removed) while in college and they seemed ok. Will probably use a lower bridge, standing on a good dampener, to cut the acoustic output. Trial and error, but seems doable.
Am also thinking of getting a 5th string, C, to change to C G D A so that I can play the bass part for hymns in Church with the same violin. The choir hasn't had a bass line for some time.
Finally, may I say that this forum has some amazing content, and amazing people doing amazing things. Glad to have become a member

Welcome to the forum!
Sounds like you have some exciting plans for yourself & your violins!
I don't know much about Trinity College, but I'm looking forward to following your new journey!
Lower strings take a little more work, but I find them very alluring - love the C string!
I'm sure you'll enjoy it here - other folks here have either returned to playing, like you, or just started later.
