Hi everyone.  I'm Rich I live here in Perth Western Australia.

I discovered fiddlerman on youtube with his 109 dollars violin review. The strange thing was I wasn't' even looking for anything violin at the time, so  I guess it was fate:)

After being blown away by Fiddlerman I got myself a violin. Sorry Fiddlerman its not one of yours.   I wish it was because I have seen every video you have made and the violins you play sound so lovely :)))

I use to play classical guitar at boarding school, and I can read basic sheet music.      One of my goals is to to play violin by ear.. and maybe later I might try using a bow :P

I have found out that unlike a guitar you need to work for your notes on a violin. :(

I came across the  practice drones on the site, but I had  a lot of trouble trying to get them to work in Linux or Andriod. In the end I  had space so I wacked on windows and used audacity to record them and covert them to a format my phone could handle. I have some ideas on using them, and hopefully that will pay off and my family wont disown me before I get to master twinkle twinkle little star. :)

I would love to get involved with the group projects. I have seen/heard what you guys have done and its really impressive.

Welcome to the Fiddlerman community, Rich! https://fiddlerman.com/wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-smile.gif

You'll love the fiddle I'm sure, and you're doing the right thing using drones for practice - intonation is one of the hardest things to get right on the violin so it's best to start as you mean to go on.

Thanks Jim.

Yes I hope to keep the peace by using drones.  I don't want to torture people too much.

Hi Rich, welcome to a fun and rewarding adventure! smile

That is entirely OK. The margins on those violins are very small and money is not everything. We are doing just fine at Fiddlershop. :)

I use to play classical guitar at boarding school, and I can read basic sheet music.      One of my goals is to to play violin by ear.. and maybe later I might try using a bow :P

That gave me an idea for a funny video. I'll play the violin "by ear" and show how hard it is. LOL Question is how to do that. LOL

I have found out that unlike a guitar you need to work for your notes on a violin. :(

Perhaps it's not much harder than a guitar but it takes time.  We do have a lot of guitar players here that can comment on that though.

We look forward to having you on the projects in the future. Many have started participating quite quickly on group projects. Determination and hard work is necessary but I don't have proficiency requirements on the submissions. :)

Hi Rich,

Welcome!!! I never gave a thought to using my ear instead of the bow!

Enjoy!
