Starting to learn... how to play a violin.
Never even held one until a few days ago. Have always liked the instrument, then one night after shopping Amazon, somehow a Cecilio CEVN electric violin showed up. These things happen sometimes...
First day realized the strings that came with it were not the greatest when attempting to make the E string sound like the fiddlerman tuner sound... it went Boing...
Now it is strung with D'Addario Prelude medium strings. Not even 24 hours after receiving my new violin, I learned how to restring it and put the bridge back on.
A little cheap clip on electronic tuner was added the next day, and now I can get it to make the right sounds on open strings.
Then I misplaced the rosin that came with it. Bought some from a actual Violin shop, and with new strings and a quality rosin... it really changed the sound for the better.
Just been practicing making transitions on the open strings so far, but now to move on to adding other notes. Looks like a good reason to start the 35 day challenge.

Yes, indeed they do! LOL
I had something very similar happen about 3 yrs ago, and it has been great fun. So, welcome aboard!

It's a great idea to start the challenge but pace yourself carefully. Relax and try not to tense up or you could develop pain.
Keep us posted.
If I learn the basic scales in 35 days... I'll be happy. Work strange hours, so trying to blend in an hour a day for practice. Might be different times of day, but that's what steered me to the electric violin. Do mutes on acoustics dampen the sound to the same level that no one would care that it is 3 am?
Spent an hour today bouncing the bow between the open strings. Might still sound like a cat with a cinder block on their tail at times... but getting comfortable doing it.
Most important though.... is I enjoy it and am having fun.

Welcome to the forum.
What a wonderful "thing" to have happen to you.
Welcome to the 35 day challenge also.
Scales.... what a brilliant idea. I also suggest open bowing... I really missed that boat in my beginning days. It is one of my regrets.
Take care.. Enjoy!!

Welcome @Taper123 Sounds like you're off to the great start!
I'm another newbie attempting the 35 day challenge for the first time. I'm finding some of the longer days a little painful as I'm not used to playing for so long, but found some good videos on YouTube to help with exercises. And it's good just to practice (or perhaps in our case, learn!) every day, even if it's for a shorter amount of time!
I am curious as to what made the bigger difference - the better quality rosin or strings? (if you had the opportunity to notice!)
