Hello everyone. As an introduction, I'm Bob, from the SE section of Tennessee (Soddy Daisy); just turned 68 years old, and have lost my mind thinking I am gonna learn to play violin. Been involved in/with music since 6th grade of school. Have played (to some degree) trumpet, guitar, and a little keyboard. Sang in a gospel quartet and still sing occasionally in church. I wish to learn violin to be able to join the church praise & worship team. Wish me luck.

Man you are old, you were already 4 years old when I was born. I just started learning a month ago, so I guess I've lost my mind too (well actually there's no guessing in my case, the vote is in, I lost it a long, long time ago.) Seriously though, while it's not a snap to learn the violin, it is something you can do. Since you can probably already read the treble clef, you're starting out ahead of where a lot of people start. Just watch the Fiddlerman videos and get some books like the Essential Elements for Strings (violin version) Book 1, or some other books for beginners and have at it. I'd imagine you can be playing Amazing Grace pretty well in a week or so. Let us know how it goes.

@canman763 > SWEET!!! > your gonna love it. It will take a bit of time and effort to get a grasp on it but if you want it you will have it. Hope you gots a spare hour a day or so cause thats what its gonna take. Before long you will not get much done around the house, etc cause you may just get hooked > Thats when it gets really sweet.
Welcome and ROCK ON!!!
