Well, 30 days in from my first stumbling attempt at A Red Red Rose....
I feel a lot more comfortable with the instrument now - and it is just about starting to bend-to-my will and not just go-off-on-its-own LOL
Still searching for improved intonation - but my ear catches off-notes now and if I'm "close enough" I can just about pull-them-in but still not quickly enough not to be heard!!!
Anyway - MIDI backing track, EV with small chorus effect, and last few bars overlaid with tremolo on EV - all mixed together in Audacity....
Being my own worst ( or is that best ) critic - I'm relatively pleased with it - for the time being...

Oh - for possible copyright reasons - I should mention the image is by Kay Jensen - thanks, Kay

Madbill - I like this tune. Look forward to getting to the point I can play it myself. Did you find music anywhere or did you learn it by ear?

@kylesito -

Several ways-in - used EasyABC to pick up an ABC file - here's the ABC code
X: 13
T:Dark Island
R:Waltz
M:3/4
L:1/8
K:G
E2|"Am"A3 BA2|"Em"G3 AG2|"C"EC3E2|"G"D4GA|
"G"B3 AG2|"Bm"Bd3D2|"Em"B4d>B|"D"A4E2|
"Am"A3 BA2|"Em"G3 AG2|"C"EC3E2|"G"D4GA|
"G"B4d>B|"D7"A4B>A|"C"G3 AG>F|"G"G2B2c2|
"G"d3 DD2|B2A2G2|"C"EC3E2|"G"D4GA|
"G"B3 AG2|"Bm"Bd3D2|"Em"B4d>B|"D7"A4E2|
"Am"A3 BA2|"Em"G3 AG2|"C"EC3E2|"G"D4GA|
"G"B4d>B|"D7"A4B>A|"C"G3 AG>F|"G"G4 z2|]

And here's the score sheet it creates -

Although useful, I didn't totally like that, and found the following midi file - (which I just played on-line and recorded the audio for my backing track) - hang on till I find it again -
Oh - it's on the same page as the ABC - here - http://abcnotation.com/tunePag.....waltz/0001

hope that helps - yes - it's a nice tune.

If I recall, it plays "faster than I feel it should" and I used Audacity to slow it down by about 15% (but keeping the same pitch).... then used THAT as my backing track to play along with.... LOL !

It's all good fun !

Hope that helps, and enjoy !

***EDIT : And to answer your question, I know the tune by ear, and I used the midi/backing track only in an attempt to "force my timing" into place.... the presence of the score sheet is just co-incidental, being a side-effect of EasyABC - LOL. I didn't use it - and indeed intentionally improvised in a couple of places ( the little "excursions" on the E string !! )
