Played at dance performance speed . amazing playing by the most respected pipe player of trad Irish.
Be amazed at the skill and feeling, It blows me away. If I could have afforded a set of pipes I think I would have gone with them instead of fiddle. In Ireland the pipers and singers are held in more esteem than all other musicians. Especially singers.
Cant beat a sunny day

I dont know if theyre all held with more esteem.. It depends on who it is I think like everywhere else..but I know what youre getting at. Alot of pride there.
I Cant remember which night, I think it was Thursdays when i was there... but in Ennis there is "piping heaven" at cosidines pub. A piper, Blackey O'Connel hosted.. I think i can say... There were several people in that session and it was standing room only for the rest.. its a regular meeting. He also lead a session at poets corner. If ever there its a must see! Seems like that was on Friday night. Beautiful Pub. awesome muscians.

@stringy -
You might be interested in this video of Finbar Fury, because it shows (up close) what I think makes Uilleann pipes so different/special from other types of bagpipes.
I love all kinds of pipes - the music can be intoxicating & I like to try ways of mimicking it on the fiddle.
I think Uilleann pipes are more expensive than Scottish pipes, but they have a wider range & more control over sound production - otherwise all pipes have some similar traits.
One tune I've recently been playing came from a Swedish group using not only fiddle, but also 'säckpipa' - Gullbrand (been meaning to post about this tune & the group playing it, in a Nordic thread soon).
