@ABitRusty -
Really like that whole version by the Chieftains!
I see the slip jig starts at 1:00.
Never sat down to learn 'The Foxhunter 'Suite', because I always confused it in my mind with 'The Fox Chase', probably because of 'The Fox Hunt' name associated with it (Trad Tune Archive Annotations) - so it always drives me a little nuts to sort out the tunes.
Originally, found it confusing to find 'The Foxhunter's Slip Jig' listed as just 'The Foxhunter's Jig' some places (or aka).
Anyway, does remind me I would LOVE to memorize all of 'The Fox Chase/Hunt(?)' pdf - some day!
The Fox Chase - Liam O'Flynn
(*edited) Just saw what The Session has listed for The Chieftains 2 album 'The Foxhunt' track:
1. Fiach an Mhadra Rua (?)
2. The Foxhunter’s Jig (but it's a slip jig)
3. The Foxhunter’s Mazurka
4. The Foxhunter’s Reel

Foxhunter slip jig is about 1:30 or so into the tune.. that first little section if an actual tune i dont know it..it sounds like they were setting the scene for a real foxhunt.. sun rising..men horses and dogs ready... the slip jig part is a fox 'frolicking' 🙂 to me. they set the scene well with music very well in my mind.
after that there is the foxhunters reel which i associate with an actual chase.
they do this kind of arranging... mix tune types and such. dusty miller is another good example. lots of different tunes. like how it builds till it finally gies into hunters house. so exciting... makes me smile everytime i hear it.
