@ABitRusty -
I'm so glad you brought up "Jefferson and Liberty" (aka. The Gobby O)!
This is a great little jig!
It was on my list a long time ago & guess it got lost there. So, I dropped everything and took a few minutes to learn this great tune (literally, a few minutes), but I played it in Ddor like the Whitney M. Young Magnet High School Chamber!
Thanx for sharing this!
Here's the sheet music in Ador at The Session, if anyone can't learn this by ear.

I hope everyone picks this tune up!

nice tune Emily, I was playing it on the mando last night, not by ear I cheated and read it, fairly long jig to memorise, nice though.
Dont know what gobby stands for in the title but in the area I am from it means loud mouthed and rude, you hear people round hear quite often say things like 'hes a right gobby .........' insert your own swear word but usually it means illegitimate, lol.

That's really great you tried it!
I've been playing it since Greg posted it, but for some reason I keep forgetting the beginning! I just learned the version from the 1st video and have it all memorized, until the next day! I just have to hear the first couple notes with the rhythm, then it ALL comes back to me.
I think I've gotten to the saturation point of my recollection, because this has been happening to me more and more - and I'm probably never playing less than 10 tunes at a practice.
I'm sure you've committed WAY more to memory with your other instruments, too.
Brain overload!
Guess I've just learned too many Jigs, Reels, Waltzes, Marches, Mazurkas, Schottisches Flings, Airs and Hornpipes, etc... to keep them all straight! Think I'd probably faint if I counted up all the tunes I've committed to memory, so far - coming up on 2½ years worth.

I must have 200 pieces memorized, a couple new things every week and I memorize everything I have ever played. But, so many are AA, BB - so there's almost always repetition and a catchy/basic melody. My Achilles' heel is, if I can't remember the 1st few notes to get started, I really don't want to end up relying on YouTube to be my memory trigger... but it's just becoming so darn convenient. 😔
I'm positive that just ONE piece of the kind of music you play is worth MANY of what I play - so, don't sell yourself short!
Did you try out "Jefferson and Liberty"?
🤔 ...if each tune was a pumpkin seed?
update: I finally remembered it this morning, without any help. Geez, 5 days. 🎃

200 !!?? garth from waynes world ...were not worthy..not worthy...lol
in all seriousness though thats impressive and alot of work regardless of how simple they may be. I think thats pretty darn cool..
As for me...I think im somewhere in the 10-15 that i know well enough to play start to finsih without a track or thinking how does that tune start. Youre right though.. alot of tunes have simiar phrases that help the dexterity for another once you get it. theres a most popular session tune list out there somewhere im working on trying to get up to speed. think its broken down by type...probably 10 each or something. jefferson and liberty or gabby O.. not on it though.. still a great tune
