Well, I seem to be able to do. y cello, again, and get up and safely put it back on the stand after sitting and playing. Yippee!

Unfortunately, I seem to have a little playing ability. I will have to back up a bit with the songs I was playing and refresh. I also need to strengthen my fingers. It takes a little more finger strength on the cello than my violin and viola.

On a good note, at least I can now do it. 😁

Very happy to hear you are doing so well. I'm sure the ability to play the way you could before will come back quickly!

Thanks. I hope so. I love the sound of my cello. I am sure I will get back into cello shape. Cello and viola are my favorites.

If you've been unwell or injured, mouse, I'm sorry to hear it - I missed the story (I'm only online three days a week). Best wishes.

I'd never been injured before, and it's not nice if you are a musician (or sportsperson, I guess). I missed most of a summer's violin practice, and I can only imagine what AndrewH has been going through for what seems like years now.

Thank you, Alf. No injury or illness. Just a surgery I delayed for almost 2 years. All taken care now and getting better 👍

Yet another thread/post I missed - great to hear you are back-on-track to some extent @mouse !

Yeah - fingers / hand / arm ( not to mention other apparently unrelated possibilities which affect playing ) can be the WORST.

So glad you feel happy and capable of returning to the fray that is "Bowed Stringed Instruments" - probably one of the hardest playing-challenges out there !

Welcome back to playing, take it easy and at your own rate until you're totally happy again !

Please make your own, different mistakes, and help us all learn :-)

My cello is ever so slowly coming back. The main issue is my left hand finger strength. My ring finger has redeveloped that issue of wanting to collapse. I had to deal with that before and was almost over it. It's back.

But progress is good! And just think, it probably won't take as long to get to your previous level as it did the first time! thumbs-up

Thanks, @JohnG I wasn’t going to do White Christmas, but I think I can do it and might actually be able to record it this afternoon, if I can get a quiet house. (meaning husband has to choose flight simulator or messing with a computer in the basement or freeze puttering in the garage 😁) No problem, he is pretty cooperative when I am doing this. Just have to let him know I am going to do it and let him know when I am done. I am soooo spoiled!

Yippee! Cello time! So I don't have to be alone anymore! I don't think there are any other cellists on this forum right now...
