I'm just wondering if I'm the only one whose pinky naturally sets a little bit under the ring finger. If I just hang my hand loose, the pinky curves towards the ring finger and the tip actually touches the finger in a way where the tip is just barely under the finger. When I lift the violin into position, this worsens so that my pinky is about 50% covered by my third finger; I have to manually move the pinky finger to change it, and it doesn't stay moved. Is this normal, and is there anything I can do about it?

Sorry, my little finger definitely curves in toward my ring finger, but not under.
You might benefit from some warmup exercises, but your problem may improve just by playing notes with it - you'll gain more pinky control over time.
...I did have a heck of a time correcting a habit of curling my little finger up real tight (originally to keep it out of the way). Kinda funny when I think of how I looked like I had a little spring-loaded viper attached to my hand 😬 took so much extra movement play a note.

I'm probably jumping the gun worrying about my pinky...I just saw something about it on YouTube. Thanks for the video, BTW. Everyone here is so helpful!
