Pierre, I'm impressed. I've been around violinists who could not "fiddle" at all. You, on the other hand, really got the "lick" in Cajun fiddling. It sounded authentic, not stilted. I'd like to hear more of it.   :)

Something I always wanted but couldn't find back years ago when I played for a living was someone who had violin technique but could use it to play the "fiddle." Violinists always sounded like what they were, i.e. violinists. They were unable to get in "the groove" in fiddling. You've managed it. Man I wish I lived in Florida.

Thanks uncledave. I was probably just lucky that time. exactlyblurry_drunk-2127It's a great complement though.

No, Thank YOU!!!  I get hundreds of video requests every week but when I ask players to put it on a video, it's a no go.

I appreciate the help in the beginning.

I actually could do that Schaick. It would be a heck of a lot cooler, that's for sure.

Juan's question has to do with instrument movements associated with vibrato that affect steady bowing and how to deal with it.

Instrument movement caused by vibrato does not necessarily have to be bad. Since that movement coincides with the rhythm and motion of the vibrato, the affect the bow has when crossing the strings unsteadily will not be negatively audible. Go with the flow and allow the instrument to move rather than clinching away all movement. Relaxing is always better than tensing up.

Thanks for the video question Juan.

Rajon from the FiddlerMan Fiddle Talk Forum is having problems with the discomfort of having the chinrest hardware pressing up against his neck. Here is a simple and cheap solution that works perfectly.
If you have an idea for a Fiddleman Q & A, make a video playing or just speaking, using any camera at your disposal, and use a file transferring site such as sprend.com, dropsend.com, dropbox, to pierre@fiddlerman.com
Please do not send the files directly to my email as video files tend to be too large.

Great Idea!  Thank you.

I just had this issue come up with my little 3 year old grand daughter.  I used a rubberband and a kitchen towel, but it was too bulky.

I will try this for her.. (maybe a pink hanky)

Great idea. I wish I knew that trick before.

I always had a bit of skin rash after playing (specially in summer) and being tired of my cloth sliping I made this in crochet. Works like a charm and many people ask me about it.

Maybe I should put this in DIY section...?

This Video Q&A is pretty awesome. Very well done. I think we all have the same questions to some extent. I just need to get a pink metronome.  ;)
