I'm borrowing a junk bow from a friend to practice my bowing with. My bow hold feels ok, relaxed and loose feeling while making sure the bow doesn't fall from my fingers. However, when I practice my bowing I'm lifting my pinkie finger off the bow. Paying attention to what I'm doing, I'm first straightening it, then curling it under.
Is this a bow hold problem or just something I need to concentrate on to correct?

@RDP -
I personally think it's best to have ALL your fingers on your bow from the very beginning. The only time your little finger should come off the bow right now, is maybe on a full down bow where the very tip is on the strings and your arm is fully extended.
The Fiddlerman Tutorial goes over your beginner bow grip.
There are actually many bow holds. Later, you'll want to learn more about controlling all your fingers, because each one does something different.
Good question!

I think I figured it out.
When I'm bowing, I'm unconsciously using my ring finger to control the bow and eventually it slips down to the pad of my finger instead of staying at the first joint. This puts the bow too far away from my pinkie so I curl it to get it out of the way and forget it's there.
More practice!
