Hi everybody

My keyboard caps are kind of iffy right now so if I don't capitalize correctly, forgive me....

i am working on ave maria for my hubby's birthday and i am not sure how to bow the second bar.  both notes are quite long and marked down bow.  do i slur them?

thanks in advance

There are two famous Ave Marias. Which one are your referring to? Gounog's or Schubert's?
I'll be happy to bow it for you if you scan the part or just take a picture and post it here.

From what Sus49 described as far as the bowing mark is concerned, it sounds like she is talking about the Ave Maria sheet music from the Fiddlerman sheet music collection. :-)

Once I figured the bowing distribution I've always made a very short stop before continuing the down bow, not sure if this is correct though.

It's easy to play any musical instrument: all you have to do is touch the right key at the right time and the instrument will play itself. Johann S.Bach

Oh, I see.

Yes, it's like a slur but a new down bow instead, a slight slow down or stop between the two notes. If you were to try to play that last quarter note up, you would have 7 beats down and one up. It's exactly as Anny said, about bow distribution. For all intensive purposes, lets just call it a slur for now. :)
