Well, after looking around at youtube videos and sheet music, I came to the conclusion that Canon is played by 2 or more instruments/people. (except for the rock version). Is there an arrangement that for solo violin somewhere?

There are arrangements for solo instruments, but a Canon is when one instrument plays a melody and after a given time another plays or imitates the same melody over the first creating harmony. Therefor a solo version isn't quite what you may expect. The only possibility would be if you could play a lot of double stops. I'll play with that idea sometime soon.Smile

Thanks to both of you, at least I got a decent sheet, and an interesting piece of musical info. Thanks!

-edit-

Looked in the file, and downloaded a MIDI to hear how it sounded. It is extremely doable given enough time, hopefully I can do a 3 part videosync :D

if you wanna play the canon rock, then i'd start looking at guitar tabs and then write it out in sheet music.  if i'm thinking correctly canon rock is played more on guitar than violin right?

It sounds like he doesnt want the rock version? Anyways this guy on youtube called jokerviolin he transposed canon rock for the violin. So if you want, do a quick search for him he's pretty easy to find. But if you want just 1 violin playing canon in d then.... get a looper and an electric violin.... or just record the acoustic violin in garage band and manually loop the tracks yourself.

Good idea Chinny,

I may even try that some day for the fun of it. I got a new mic on my video camera but did not like the first result today. I had it on shotgun and that may of affected the sound weirdly.
