Are there any tips or tricks or exercises that will help me play double stops while playing on the C (or vln G) string? Maybe my age but my left hand does not want to go over that way very well. And I will pause on my struggles in 3rd position on the C.

Thanks.

@Ripton -

I have to shove my elbow, what seems extremely unnaturally far, under the instrument & hand rotated more parallel, with thumb more under the neck.

It's taken me a long time to get to where I don't feel like it's torture playing some vibrato on the C string.

I'm sure when I get my new Viola, it will be torture all over again - cause it's bigger. 😳

I have trouble with all double stops - so I'll save those on the C string for last… But I see what you mean about the torture thing. It took me a while to get semi-comfortable even playing 'normally' on the C string, I'm just getting there. Vibrato is still tentative. So double stops will wait :-).

I posted a few links for SLOW, play-along VIOLA practice, you might find helpful - here:
