Just want to remind folks that Fiddlershop has a wonderful video & article library, as well as a string comparison chart and online violin tuner!

@Fiddlerman -

How about an online Viola & Cello tuner? 😉

Thank you so much Emily. It's kind of you to point that out.

As for the online tuner for Cello, that would be doable.

Here is the Viola Tuner!

@Fiddlerman -

Thank YOU!

I still find help from all your tutorials, arrangements, resources, tips & links!

Didn't think about looking at the 'other' site for the Viola tuner... appreciate it!  I like to double check against how I've been tuning once in a while!

@Fiddlerman, your collection of short video tutorials was always such a great resource.

They used to be accessed by a simple column of text links to each video on the right side of this page below all the forum links.  That was very functional!

I’m on an iPad.

Quite a while ago, the site layout was changed and access to those videos was moved to a collective menu item at the top of this page.  When that item is selected, it leads to a page that displays thumbnails of all the videos with no titles or labels!  It’s impossible to find a specific video.  One would need to play each video to discover the topic!

This may be a browser or platform related quirk, but I’m sure there are many folks who use iPads to visit here.  It’s so sad to see this as a lost resource.  Hopefully your web guru could roll this back to that simple, functional column of blue text links or some other format that is accessible.

Thanks!

I have the same problem @Unfretted  and @Fiddlerman. I think I mentioned it in a PM to Fiddlerman quite a while ago, but I didn't explain it so clearly. It is that way with all  videos, I believe, including the Group Projects. Unless you actually go through each video anywhere from the drop down menu bar above the forum, you have to manually select each video until you find the one you want because they have been formatted to thumbnails that only show the text title unless you hover a mouse, which pads don't do. I think most people use par devices. I ish a listing  of text links would be used instead of thumbnails.

PS I just sent another PM about it and l added this topic link and mentioned reply #4 because Unfretted explained it better than I did quite a while ago, right after it was reformatted to thumbnails.

I mentioned this when the index first went missing, also in a PM quite awhile back.

I'm sure everyone, especially fiddlers who joined afterwards, would appreciate it being restored - if possible.

I think some new fiddlers were also encouraged/motivated with the 'badges', too.

Thank you for following up on this, @Mouse.  I’m sure @Fiddlerman will take notice.

I feel for them at FiddlerShop… they are so very busy keeping up with running the essential business and maintaining high standards with customer service and quality instruments.  It’s a tough labor market right now, and even harder to find folks with specialized music knowledge.

As far as the tech talk, I was a computer geek in one of my former life passages, so I kinda know the lingo.😂

Thanks!

instead of badges... maybe points added for different type things.   ive seen some other learning type forums that sorta had an ongoing type of game or such that as different tasks were added for members and as they completed..they were awarded points.  at certain point levels a new badge icon was added.  could be a kind of carrot to keep it interesting and set some type of goals to shoot for.

I am thinking, maybe concentrate on getting the links in the learning resources touch screen device friendly before tackling any new ideas about badges. Just a thought as a member, not as administrator.

So sorry about that.
That plugin stopped working with WordPress and I had to find another solution.

I'll look into a better solution.

Thanks!

You're very welcome.

@Fiddlerman -

...didn't mean to give you a hard time about the Violaman site.

Btw, (pertaining to an index for your videos) what are your thoughts on just linking folks to your videos & tutorials at the Fiddlerman YouTube Channel

Easy to see/access them all there - the Fiddlerman Video Playlists are very helpful! 🥰

Of course. I suppose I always assumed that people could go straight there instead if they preferred but maybe not everyone understands that. Where do you suggest I put that kind of link up to make it easier for people to find?

@Fiddlerman -

I just figured the Fiddlerman YT Channel link would be great mentioned among the bullets under "start here" on the Home page & maybe in the Welcome box on the Forum page.

Your tutorials can't be mention enough - I was very impressed by them when I first came to the forum & they will continue to help many others. 🤗
