I was browsing my college's (Marshall University) course list and discovered they offer a violin class.  It's a class that requires permission to register for, so I e-mailed the instructor and told her about myself, and she gave me permission to join!  I'm happy because it's essentially a tutor style class, since she meets with each student one on one.  

     I've been working towards learning to sight read, and it's not the easiest for me, but having goals helps, and now I'll have specific goals, and since it's a class with a grade, (based on a sight reading test at the end of the semester) I know i'll work hard.  She said it's based on each person's level, and that she's had students who play by ear like me before, so I think it'll be good. 

     Best of all it doesn't raise my tuition, and since I have to go to school anyway, it's basically free
