Hi, does anyone play Irish tunes here? I am trying very hard to locate sheet music for Marino Casino written by John Sheahan of the Dubliners, to no avail!!!

Please, pretty please.... Can someone help ? The Dubliners are on You Tube.

Also, does anyone here know how to play The Irishwasherwoman , just like an Irish Fiddler would? Are there techniques peculiar to getting the jig right?dancinbunnydancinbunny

Thank you soooo much in advance,
Brenda

There is only one Irish fiddler in here (other than Fiddlerman, who can play it well).

That would be "Worldfiddler" , he drop's in every couple day's. He also has his own website, but I can't recall the name. Perhap's another member here can help you with that.

 Good luck.  crossedfingers

Thanks for your kind reply, Fiddlestix. Didn't know Fiddlerman is Irish!!
I am encouraged. He can probably write the notes out for Marino Casino just by listening.

LOL,,, I don't know if he's Irish or not, but he can whip out the Irish tune's. He's been playing violin for a long time and can play anything.

He may be able to write the word's and i'm sure he can play Irish Washerwoman,, the man is good.

Mr. Jim aka Worldfiddler, is on http://www.worldfiddlemusic.com. He is still working on the site, but if you post some questions he may be able to help you out.

You might also try looking through the different threads under the Irish etc section:

Hmmmmm.... Barry, i'm really sorry for that, I put a lot of thought into someone who played Irish music in this forum, but I guess I didn't think hard enough. Irish Washerwoman was the only song on my mind and I don't ever recall hearing you play it. In fact I don't recall ever hearing you play any Irish tune's, unless the song's I have heard you play are Irish and I didn't know it, I guess I must have missed something.  confused

It's taking me quite some time here to write this, I'm trying to think of the right word's to apologize and get my foot out of my ass. embarassed I had no idea you are an Irish lad. Seriously though, I am totally sorry, I didn't mean to offend you in any way, your fiddlin is awesome and I enjoy watching you play. smile

Thank you all for the replies. When it comes to Irish Songs, there are 3 that I would like to play. Irishwasherwoman, Marino Casino and Lord Of The Dance. All by the Dubliners.

I am hoping someone can transpose Marino Casino for the violin.

I love how it sang to my heart.

Btw, do see the duet between Andre Rieu and Dubliners John Sheahan playing the Irishwasherwoman on 'Andre Rieu in Dublin'. IT was AMAZING!

Awesome.... I did see that and even commented on it, but plumb forgot about it. The only one that I had remembered you playing was when I first joined the forum, you were composing a song and asked if anyone wanted to help finish it.  Thing's happen when ya get old ya know.

You may think it's not necessary, but I do, one shouldn't forget something like that, I really felt bad about it.

Thank's, Barry.   cheers

I took the advice of my first online teacher from 4 years ago, she said I should experiment and not concern myself with style until my 5 th year as it was more about learning technique at that stage then genre.

Sept begins my 5th year and I actually do plan to start  more genre based studies.

Also Ive got a ton of great method books I plan to offer for sale here first very soon, i'll be putting up a video showing what I have but because of shipping costs it will just be for USA based fiddlers .

No worries? Whaddya mean 'no worries!'

I 'd take Fiddlestix to one side and beat him round the head with the shiny side of my stick!
Haha, I AM joking!

It's good to see that even though a few of us have been here a while, we are still learning about each other, are close enough to have a joke, but without being complacent about each others feelings!

Good wind up though Barry, gonna have to watch my step with my 'curve ball' comments!
