I have a question. The practice drones all seem to be a tiny bit flat — according to both my tuners, the A drone is hovering around 439.5.  Is there any way this can be adjusted?

I thought I was just hearing high (often happens to violinists), and so spent more time practicing with the drones — and then I had a tough time adjusting to a piano that was tuned to 440.  So I tested your drone against my tuners (including tonal energy), and it’s flat.

Maybe it just needs to be reloaded?

I believe @Alison is talking about these drones:

@Alison -

WELCOME TO THE FORUM!

I'm not an expert, I do NOT have perfect pitch (and YOU might, which could make a difference) - but I always thought of drones as being more than just the fundamental, a cluster of sound.

We've had discussions here about the difference in violin tuning vs piano tuning and that you probably need to make adjustments.

I have listened to different 440 Hz examples against the Fiddlershop Violin Tuner and the Fiddlerman practice drones.  To me, they all work together.

Tuning adjustments, by way of playing, are made for better harmony when playing with others.

There are others here on the forum that know more about drones & I'm sure will reply, given time.

This shows what the frequency spread and what a tuner sees when some of them are played.  I would use these to play tunes with in each key or modals of.  I wouldnt use to tune my strings with but i guess you could.   usually drones have a 5th in them along with the root.  also octaves of the root i believe.

@ABitRusty -

Wow, very cool seeing the frequency spread & how well the tuner is picking up the fundamental!

So, I don't see any problem with the Fiddlerman drones.

This one may be easier to play with if youre not liking the the one here.  I dont think fiddlermqn would put a drone up that wasnt correct, but I also dont want to say you should live with it if it isnt working..  its just something thats free and available.  I prefer one thats lower than what Im playing.

heres one to try

btw.. interesting sound if you start the cello and then start the one i posted.  When the A's play together.
