Here is my day five video fellow fiddlers!
I took the best take of three and this is what I got haha. I definitely made a few mistakes note wise, but can't wait for some constructive criticism. Thanks for watching!
Also I got the sheet music from here: /wp-content/uploads/2010/12/Auld-Lang-Syne.pdf

Hey man you look pretty nervous but also excited eyyyy Your confidence is great especially since it's only your 5th day? but yea some notes are a little off, like the 3rd note (E which is first finger on the D string) it should be close to your second finger. Check if your A string is in tune. on the music sheet it says to play an open A but yours seems a little flat sounding. But seriously dude, congratulations on your confidence. I dont know if other people agree or disagree with this but I find that confidence in beginner violinists is something that is very rare, bravo!

Nice video, Shralper. =) I'm agreed with Chinny about your confidence =).
Your bow seems to be pretty straight -that's good too!
I just want to notice that your left hand is not straight enough. Don't bend it inside, please. Later, when You'll play in different position and will make vibrato straight hand will help You a lot!
Right hand: All your fingers on the bow supposed to be curved. It will help You to make bow more straight and for smooth bow change =)
FiddlerMan has a video about this -> How to hold the bow
Fantastic start, Shralper!!

I agree with both Chinny and Mad_Wed. You are doing an excellent job for the 5th day. As Chinny mentioned, some of your strings seem to be out of tune. If you don't have another instrument to tune to, you can use this: /fiddle-learning-tools/online-tuner/
And just to clarify what Mad_Wed said about your left arm being not straight enough, she means that your left wrist should not be resting on the violin or bent at all.
Once again great job and keep up the good work!

Thanks for the feedback I really appreciate it!
I will definitely start working on keeping my left hand straight. I've noticed my wrist had been sore after practicing lately and wasn't sure if I was doing something wrong or it was just getting used to playing the violin. But I will be trying to keep it straight now
I'm going to re watch the bow holding video again before I practice this afternoon, looks like my hand was getting sloppy on me hahaha. I've worked on how I hold the bow but my hand was trying to cheat again! I used to hold it wayyyyy to tight but have since relaxed my grip and spread my fingers apparently haha.
About being in tune, before I started recording I tuned my violin with the electronic tuner it came with and it's set to 440 htz. Is this the right frequency to set the tuner to? It's very likely I was out of tune though my intonation definitely needs work, I know some notes just don't sound right and struggle with fixing them.
I am really enjoying playing the violin and want to say thanks again for your feed back and helping me to learn more and play better!!!
Cheers!

I just finished a great practice session! I tried my hand at tuning by ear with FM's tuner and then checked it with my chromatic tuner set at 443 this time. And MAN what a difference it made! My instrument sounds so much better! Or maybe it just sounds like its supposed to now haha.
For my warm up I spent a good 15 minutes playing scales very slowly in front of a mirror concentrating on keeping my wrist straight, not using my shoulder, and keeping the bow straight. I'm very happy to report my wrist wasn't sore at all. I am really grateful that my improper wrist form was pointed out.
I can't wait to post another video in a few days to get some more great feedback!
Thanks fiddlers!

I love it,
Great to hear that you could correct everything so easily. Most people need more time to sort things out. I look forward to seeing your next video post.
I wouldn't quite go as far as saying my problems are completely fixed just yet… But I'm now aware of them and can work to correct myself now .

I've got some bad news fiddlers... I slipped and fell on my left wrist at work today pretty bad. It doesn't hurt to bad and the swelling seems more or less minor but its quite stiff. I was hoping to record a video tonight but it looks like that's going to be a couple days. Lookin forward to being back at it though!
