Hey! I know I haven't been on the forum for a while.... Been really busy lol. But anywho, I'm playing Kreislers Sicilienne and Rigaudon and in Sicilienne the guy playing on a youtube video had very smooth shifts and mine are pretty not smooth lol. Do ya'll have any advice on doing them smoother? Thank you!!

@SiennaAViolin -
If you are having trouble because of something tensing up in your arm or hand, this video can help you understand where it might be coming from & some great, simple exercises.
He also does a more in depth look at specific types of shifts: "Three Looks at Shifting - Violin Shifting in Depth".

Mine just got a lot better with more concentrated practice of shifting, I got more familiar & relaxed, but like everything else I do on violin & viola - I have to keep working on them.
Wanted to mention how beautiful Kreisler's Sicilienne and Rigaudon is - think it's wonderful you are learning it!

How's the shifting coming along?
I was looking at some of Kerson Leong's tutorials - LOVE his detailed explanations!
Was thinking of you when I watched this video...
Maybe you'll find he says something you hadn't thought of - I always learn new things from him.
He talks about 2 methods for practicing shifting.
