Hi folks, nope I'm not dead.

Up to the beginning of April I was putting everything into learning Happy Birthday to play my wife. Unfortunately the day before her birthday we had a fight about my trying to spend some time practising (she didn't know it was for her birthday surprise frown )

Anyway I never played it to her which got me down a bit, so I've not felt like practising since. But last night we talked about it and she was sad that I never played it, so I said I would play for her this evening and practising it today felt good and I want to get going again.

You know my level lol it's right at the bottom. However I would like something a bit longer than twinkle twinkle or happy birthday to work at. I still need to stick to the basics though, no second position or double stops yet please!

Any suggestions?

Cheers,

Sam.

P.S. Hope you are all good!

Hullo Sam - great to see you again!

My repertoire so far consists of:

He's a Pirate part 5

Ode to Joy

Angeline Baker (only the first two lines so far)

All are available on this website. I have had the most success with Ode to Joy, since my practice times are any moments I can steal away from kids and housework when no one is sleeping.

Welcome back Sam!

"Ode to Joy" and "Amazing Grace" are two great easier songs to play and both might be a tribute to your good wife.  And as Dionysia said, the sheet music [to both] is on here.

I just added Brahms Lullaby. With any luck you can play it to get your kid to sleep. smile

Thanks folks, I have spent quite a while being horrible at Ode to Joy and amazing grace has so far out foxed me.

Brahms Lullaby is perfect I love it and it sounds so good on the violin, I will give it a go today :)

Hi, Joe here.....Ive been concentrating on the baby songs.  Not only do I like them, but they are easy to play and give me confidence.  Ill try to work out the pirate song version 5 if I can get my fiddle repaired in time.

Nice to meet you...and good fiddling

Great to see you back here SLB, have missed you.
Hey! As you are nr Oxford and I'm in Warwickshire if you fancy a violin get together any time give me a shout. I don't mind travelling, and I'm still pretty crap, but a bit of duetting might help us both improve.

I am amazed at how old people of my age are.....
