Three-note chords on violin?

I happened to see this "Violon" sheet music:

I guess a "violon" is a violin. I'm in some doubt only because this music calls for a three-note chord, the notes being half notes: G3, D4, and D5.
I have heard of running the bow quickly over more than two strings and calling it a chord of more than two notes. But these are half notes.
How is this supposed to be played?
