Unfortunately, I can not again find the reference but here is what I remember:

"The average person (listener) will more readily notice if a note is flat than if it is sharp. "

So, better to aim for the "high" side of the notes, particularly if it is a dreaded pinky stretch.

That's only about one year if you give up sleep or 6 mos. if you practice twice as much as usual.

ok so 10 000 hours at 1 hour practice per day... that's about 27 years... at 66 years old I'll be a pro! violin_girl (maybe I should practice more lol).
