This site is a very detailed and comprehensive online violin instructional site. It has several hundred videos on various topics which range from beginning, intermediate and advanced level violin.
They do charge for membership.
I was wondering if anyone has taken any of the course work or joined this site before. What are your opinions? What do you think of the instructions?
I would appreciate any opinions from both beginning and advanced players on the content and quality of the material presented on this site.
Thank you for any advise.

I have signed up for that site. I love it, the reason being all the detail in the videos. I have learned shifting, vibrato and spicatto from the videos. And I like that she has them categorized in "levels" and you get an idea of what you should be learning based on the "level" you are currently in.
I honestly believe it can be used to replace a physical teacher once you have learned all of the basics from a teacher in person. Also, she has a youtube channel where she posts free content.

@ryonass Thank you!
I agree! Based on what I have seen, it does look like excellent instruction.
Yeah, I did watch one of the YouTube vids and I do like how she explains and instructs. She is very careful and detailed in all the aspects of the topic she presents. She uses several angles and takes time to describe what you are seeing. I was very impressed just with the free stuff.
Thank you for the feedback!

Hi PChoppin
I joined VLab about three weeks ago. I'm a definitely an FNG (Fiddlin' New Girl) and I got hooked on Beth Blackerby's style of teaching. She's academic yet accessible in her approach and I enjoy that route. She has a very organized method of teaching. There's a listed video syllabus and she provides clear criteria on when to move on in her rubric questionnaire. I've found that it's keeping me on track.
From what I understand, she's teaching along the lines of the Suzuki Method: which for beginners is a right-hand first method. The emphasis is on tone which is where I'm at currently. I haven't taken lessons other than online so far.
Violin Lab offers a two-week free membership if you email Beth @ violinlab@gmail.com and ask for it. I went that route then signed up for a paid membership. I felt that the price was very reasonable for the value.
There ya go. Thoughts from a Newbie.
The clearest sign of wisdom is continued cheerfulness.

@Linny
Thank you! You have basically confirmed what I thought about this site. It looks like it is a good investment. What I am considering is joining this site and using the videos in conjunction with my lessons. It would be nice to watch the videos as I play throughout the week when I am not at a lesson (sometimes I forget what my teacher told me).
I will also look into the free two week membership you mentioned. That sounds like a great idea!
Thank you for your feedback!
