We don't need masters to do it. Amateurs would be more appropriate in this case and we can encourage each other as well as give constructive criticism.

Maybe you could encourage people to post videos of themselves playing in a thread, like Rotex has been doing, so that more experienced players could offer constructive feedback?

Seriously, it is extremely beneficial but very hard to do because people take criticism of any sort very personally. However, the person who dares do it will benefit the most. It is one of the best ways to learn.

I use Skype here for contacts. Does that automatically mean that I have the software/hardware needed for making recordings ?

Yes you do, but you may not be 100% happy with the quality. You may want to buy a digital recorder at the music store. They have real nice ones that you can bring with you on jams and such.
