My Favorite song to play, currently is "The Star Of County Down" (at least this week).
   

The first song I ever learned was "Whisky You're the Devil" (sorta, I still wouldn't say I play it great or anything).  The first song I ever stumbled through was "Red is the Rose", though, since that was the first thing I ever played a bit of when I first got my violin.
   

The song(s) I would really like to learn is/are the ones I haven't yet written for violin/fiddle.
   

Some of my favorite violinists and groups are really too many to list and change according to mood.  But Regina Carter is one that I listen to that I haven't seen mentioned yet in this thread.
   

I wanted to learn violin because.. Uhh.. I don't know, actually.  Just always kind of wanted to.
   

When I play a song and find that I am out of tune in the middle of playing, I adjust intonation to keep it somewhat in tune and then tune up when I come to the end of the piece or bit I am working on.

When I play a wrong note, I replay that section several times with the right note and then start the song over.  Unless I'm improvising, then making it work is part of the fun.
   

When I rehearse, I focus better when nobody else is around.

When I play in front of people, I just keep playing to relax.  The first song is always the hardest for nerves.

When someone walks in on me while I am practicing, I usually finish the piece or bit I'm working on, set the violin down, loosen the bow, fold my arms and say "What is it now??".
   

The most fun I have had when playing violin was.. I have no idea.  It's always sort of enjoyable to play, but I can't think of anything that was fun in the sense I'd usually think of it.  But back this summer I was practicing on acoustic violin while waiting for my son's bus to bring him home from school.  I was working on a new song and a couple walked past.  The guy turned and yelled "Ghost Riders in the Sky!  Woooooo!"  And that was what I was playing, even though I considered it very rough at that point.  I don't know if you'd call that fun or not, but I've definitely had worse times.  
   

The most nervous I have been when playing violin was when an unfamiliar dog came running into the yard towards me.  It was friendly, though, and it's owner was there in a minute looking for it.
   

When I hear a random song on the radio that has violin, I listen to hear if it is acoustic, electric, or sampled.  Then I listen to decide if I like it.  Never know when you're going to be hearing the next song you want to try playing.
   

When I hear opera, I sometimes will listen.  I'm just bad that way.
   

I believe every violinist should have a good reason to think of themselves as a fiddler at least once in a while.
   

I believe every fiddler should have a good reason to think of themselves as a violinist at least once in a while.  (Seriously, I think people waste just too much time worrying about any difference.  I don't feel there is even as much difference as between flat-picking guitar and fingerpicking guitar.  It's the same instrument, just differences of style and technique.)
   

Violin adds something interesting to work on to my life.  And it subtracts a bit of budget now and then, but oh well.
   

There is no one song that is a must learn song for all violinists.  We are all different.
   

The most requested song I hear is "Whisky in the Jar".. But to be honest, only one person requested it, and then it was because he thought he'd heard me play it before when I was playing "Whisky You're the Devil".  
   

When I first started learning violin, I accidentally trimmed the bridge facing the wrong way.  But it works, so I left it.
   

When others find out that I play violin, they aren't surprised, if they've known me for a while.  What is fun is when someone walks in who plays or has actually played violin or fiddle, because what they usually will see is my electric lying on the kitchen table.  And every last one of them has had to ask "Is that a violin?"  LOL  I've thought about coming up with some witty answer to that like "Nope, it's a spatula.  The violin is over in the kitchen utensils drawer, where any sensible person keeps it."
   

If I could go back in time to when I first picked up a violin, I would tell myself "Set the violin down and step away from the violin..Now go to the music store and get better rosin and a better bow before you pick that thing up again."
