I don't earn a living by playing the violin, I just do it as a hobby so I'm not sure if i'm called a musician or violinist. But playing violin has really helped me to pursue the impossible!

Why? I grew up who did not like music. However my sister plays the piano and I want to bond with her so I tried out the violin.

Now since i learned playing, today I'm still learning and there are times where everything is just not in place when I play. When I'm tired the violin sounds tired also, when I'm happy the violin sounds happy, and when I don't feel like playing but still insisted it sounds so bad.

My point is, continue playing and never stop learning, you will never know how much you will achieve! :D

About being called a musician or violinist - Musician is whoever makes/plays music, even if not a composer, and violinist/fiddler is whoever plays the violin/fiddle. Call yourself whatever you'd like :D

When I play, I feel like the violin is a natural extension of me. Like you said, if I'm tired, it sounds tired, if I'm happy it sounds happy, if I'm insightful it sounds insightful. That's why I like the violin that much, since I never got that feeling with the guitar. I've been playing guitar for around 8 years, violin for around 2 and a half, and I'll never give up. I've seen a lot of people give it up because they lack time, but...I really want to make music my life, so why would I? XD

I like that idea that the violin is an extension of ourselves.   I think it is great that your moods and feelings project out in the music and sound your violin makes.

I think that speaks to me in a way that will tell me to relax and let music happen. I need to relax into the violin and let my violin voice emerge.  I know I have music in me.. I let it out in many ways like when I dance and sing.

I need to allow this to happen with the violin.  It is my first real instrument to actually learn and I need to let myself be more free.

I like this topic and I am writing some of this in my journal, and in mental notes.

Hopefully next time I post a video it will be more of a relaxed and less stress.

I agree...never stop...

I definitely can hear my own mood come through the strings. When I'm happy, excited, ambitious, so are the sounds. But when I'm rushed, sour, bitter, the instrument really picks up on that and the sounds are not at all happy.  Nervousness... remember the bow vibrato... who can argue with that?

I always think of music as a form of communication.  It is what we use to express feelings and ideas that are too elusive or too important for words alone to convey fully.

There is so much going on inside of each and every one of us that we will never be able to tell.  Not with just words.  Joy, sadness, awe, fun, hurt, comfort, fear, delight.. We sing or play to let it burst/flow forth as music.
