Like everyone that takes up an instrument , I have reached that plateau. where learning has stalled on my violin. We all then have to step back at this point and take a break and regroup.
So while I'm taking a break from the violin. I picked up a Bagpipe practice chanter.
I have come to the conclusion that is instrument is even more evil then the violin.
I believe that someone started out to make a Duck Call and everything went downhill from there. I mean even in the tutorials they say the reed should sound like a duck when setting it up.
So now I am torturing my family with this Evil instrument, wish me luck...lol
whatever you do be happy at it.
With violins there is no fretting over the music.

Hey @OldOgre - remember the "Game of Thrones" project ? Well.....
I thought I would like to re-visit that project - but I was looking for "different approaches" to it on YT - I found this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?.....tv3ttOYbfY
GOT theme played on bagpipes.... aye indeed... ye cannae beat it !
I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh -
Please make your own, different mistakes, and help us all learn :-)

First I will have to learn to do more then sound like a dying duck on this thing.. Before I even consider trying that. But I do like the Dragon Pipes that she has in that video.
I have been trying to learn the fingering on the chanter, its not as easy as she makes it look...lol
anyways I'm still sawing on my fiddle so you haven't lost me here yet..

Nice. Learning to finger the pipe properly is a challenge. Really long fingers with suction cups along them like an octopus would be ideal I think. Lacking that it's pretty hard. I have a low D whistle and it is, perhaps, a little easier to finger than the pipes, but the same fingering technique is required. It makes my fingers hurt.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. ~Herm Albright

@OldOgre
How are the bagpipes coming along.
I am on the Plateau of a lifetime with violin. I am hoping a new bow and new music will help me breath a little life into my playing. I play several times a week, but short periods.. Been a super hard year this year...
Eager to hear of bagpipes.
