You're sitting through yet another dry briefing and wishing you had a Fiddlerman Fingering Game app on your droid so you wouldn't miss out on valuable study time.

Here are two more and sadly enough, they are both true:

#1.  Your friend's eight-year-old son walks up to your violin and says, "Hey, that's a cool guitar, can I play with it"  and for a few moments, you are actually offended by the statement.

#2.  You spend so much time practicing right before bed that when you brush your teeth, you end up laughing in the mirror when you realize you're holding the brush like a bow.

"I know a girl who cries when she practices violin because each note sounds so pure it just cuts into her, and then the melody comes pouring out her eyes. Now, to me, everything else just sounds like a lie."

You burn or cut yourself while cooking and instead of "Ow!', you first reaction is to think "Oh great, that is going to make playing a bit trickier for a few days."

Your mp3 player has more click tracks and accompaniment tracks and studies on it than it does music for listening to.  Extra points if it is an mp4 player and you also have violin tutorial vids and pdfs of sheet music on it.

"This young wine may have a lot of tannins now, but in 5 or 10 years it is going to be spectacular, despite the fact that right now it tastes like crude oil. You know this is how it is supposed to taste at this stage of development." ~ Itzhak Perlman

How about having all of the important stuff on back-up thumb drives in the safe deposit box ?   I would guess about 2 GB.  Maybe more ?

Another sign of encroaching nerdism is to ALWAYS be out of black ink.

I took a look through my phone today, it was filed with click tracks, violin midis and violin music.

That is cool, and funny, but I suspect that someone at least enhanced the similarity in Photoshop. smile

if you researched and carved your first neck before you bought your first fiddle to see if was actually going to work out, if your sitting in front of your computer at 10 pm on a saturday night changing sheet music into finger positions so you can memorize them, the only music you listen to is the stuff your learning.. whistle first, then play.

you learned 3 different versions of shady grove so you could take some of each song and combine them into something you like.

Actually I was reading this post about 3:15 am this morning and thought about this song, so I figured i'd try it.
