I may know the kid with the purple trumpet.  He has only one volume setting which is "Touchdown" which he learned at band camp and even uses for Amazing Grace.
I'm just glad to know that he did not buy my purple tenor sax which is hanging on the wall at Sam Ashe up in Ct. which just might be my next instrument if I bomb on violin.

Is life really so tough for live musicians per the video?  I hope not.

Sometimes we talk to people that are as dense as that guy hiring the trumpet player.

I want to bend the topic a little with a question that I'm really curious about.  Do working conditions improve with any particular genres ?  Is country and western more friendly and accommodating of musicians ?  Blue grass ?

Here in NC and VA there are a lot of country/blue grass groups who seem to be surviving (and happy about it).

PS  Last time I used your e-mail portal the message bounced.

I don't know why my email is bouncing back to you. I get mail there all the time. I wish I knew what the problem was.

I think that the situation comes from lack of culture, topped by the bad economic times that we are experiencing for the moment.

Here in south Florida you can get more pop work than symphonic. There are still about 8 - 12 orchestras that you can work for if you play well enough and desire. The problem is that they only play 1 to 6 concerts a year.

I probably should not complain since I am getting plenty of work for the moment.
I don't know at all how hard it is for bluegrass fiddlers to get work here.

A sidebar on what music is popular and sellling (Cd's, etc.).

Rock  35 %
Country  12 %
Classic  1.5 %

2008 Almanac data.

(How long can you avoid e-violin :)

Fiddlerman – I bounce e-mail #2 using your portal.  How else can I e-mail you ?

Have you tried PM'ing anyone else in the group?
I'm curious if it works. I've received PM's from all kinds of members.
I'll send you one to test for your mail as well.
