So after almost a year of teaching myself to play and a couple lessons with my new instructor I had my first recital yesterday. From the responses I received after I guess I played very well and was invited to play with some people for a Christmas Eve mass.
Met for practice tonight and oh boy this should be interesting. I have less than 24 hours to learn what I can of 16 pieces and all of which are at the edge of my ability tempo wise. I can play em slow but speed them up and my brain and fingers just dont agree with each other.
But regardless, I'm super stoked. I had a blast at my recital and was hardly nervous at all, even after my instructor dropped a bomb on me by having me go first. I really hope this kind of thing happens more often, getting out and playing in front of people was a lot more fun than I expected.
Wish my luck and if you have any tips they would be appreciated. I know I'll me doing some imitation playing but hope to be able to make some noise for most if not all of the songs.

Isnt that fun??? Congratulations on having enough courage to get up and do it, so many folks are afraid to even think about playing in front of others and they are missing out on a great experience. My first time up on an actual stage I had just met the people I played with about 1/2 hour beforehand, girl was like , "can you play faded love?" I said yup and away we went from there up on stage.. lolol Now, I play with these folks pretty regular, couple times a month..It has grown into a small loosely organized band, we are all having a great time....

Thats awesome fishnriodds! From my recital it looks like I'll have a few people to get together with and play.
Sadly I wasn't able to make it tonight, work got in the way. But it sounds like I might be able to play about once a month at one of the persons church. I do hope to get something like that though, gigs of sorts.

I was soooo nervous, I think if there had been any food in my stomach I probably would have been rid of it. Pretty sure I still have fingerprints in my fingerboard from holding on sooo tight. lolol.. Bottom line is sooner or later standing in front of people and playing is inevitable, grab the opportunity, have some fun. It will make you a better player and a whole new world will open up for you or anyone else afraid to make the leap.. If I can, anybody can..
