Believe it, or not - was watching/listening to recommendations from a handout, from the "Microtones in Irish Fiddle Playing" workshop that led me to see something out of the corner of my eye in the YouTube... that led me to see something out of the corner of my eye in the YouTube... that led me to see something out of the corner of my eye in the YouTube...

That sounds PERFECT!
❤🧡💛💚💙💜
I can't hardly distinguish anything anymore, think my brain shut down, but this really sounds great!
Now that I've been so obsessed with the 1st half of Freemount ByPass (up to 2:47) - realized I just don't like the 2nd half - haven't even touched it, yet.
Think it's because it just sounds like a completely different tune - kept looking to see if this was a set!
Maybe if I play just part of the 2nd half, as a break, then return to somewhere in the 1st half of Freemount ByPass... there's already something like an A & B part there before 2:47.
I'm trying not to be so disappointed that I just abandon the whole tune! Especially since I'm getting pretty good at .75 speed.
...could always change to a different key or octave - won't be able to call it Freemount ByPass, if I change it too much. (lol)
Thoughts on this?

You probably arent speaking of this..but the track is actually a 2 tune set..and I agree that the second tune is not as good. Im not even sure its an Iris tune. also...have you noticed the horns playing in freemount? sounds pretty cool I think. while I was poking around on the drum track I decided to reverse the reversed audion to try and catch what exactly was playing...theres a small section with what sounds like a male voice saying glory...reminded me of all the..."if you play that tune backwards it says..." stuff back in the 70's also the country joke of if you play a country song backwards you get the dog, truck ,and spouse back.. lol
hey 75% is a pretty good clip there! ive no idea what i could do but if its like all the rest thats my GOOD day ceiling on stuff I try and play....so great! Im pretty sure theyre two different tunes. that midi llay along is from the session and its an A B form...I think ...memory..done for tonight

Thought that was still the 60's! (lol)
I'll be VERY content when I get to a well played .75! 🤗
Still feels like a tongue-twister... or, finger-twister - screwed if I lose any concentration. 😳🤪
Horns - where? I'm missing them. Only hearing accordion, flute and guitar, besides fiddle - maybe also uilleann pipes.
...still on a kick of "King of The Fairies" dubstep (groove hint?), "Isabella's Lullaby", more Fiddle Hell... maybe a Party, soon.
- Emily
Just realized instead of looking at EDM for rhythm of "Freemount Bypass", maybe should've be looking at Afro-Cuban Jazz rhythms, which I just started learning about at Fiddle Hell! Just got "101 Montunos", which is supposed to have a great section on "Clave". I better at least crack it open - listen to the cds for future stuff! (lol)

sounds like either some type of horn or possibly synth playing with the chord changes on the B part second half..
hmmm... I tried playing An Caisleán Óir to the frremount loop I made...and also some random pre made drum loops... it turns into more of a reel.. which is ok..sounds good.. i wonder what a reggae beat or blues shuffle would do with a hornpipe? lol...gonna have to try that later with king of the faries.
Have you looked at an app called loopz on the play store or whatever the equiv is for apple?

Oooh, you got my attention with Reggae beat!
Heard what you were talking about (at least at the end of Freemount) - sounded like a sax! (lol) Yes, liked it - could've used more!
I've been so busy listening/playing (when I've felt good enough) that I have let everything else fly out the window (except the Grandkids and the cats)!
I will definitely check out loopz in Google play.
Thank you!
...btw, I've found playing with a track can be treacherous for me.
Either I stress to play exactly in sync or I get in a comfortable spot & zone out... then the worst - I wake up, lost my place. 😖

Okay, thanx for putting up with all my nonsense (it's a learning thing).
I finally put the loopz app on my phone - should've done it a year ago!
"Shake It" at 80 BPM, sounded close to what you ended up with.
Also liked "Gramaphone" and "Cissy Groove", both at 80 BPM, went well with the Freemount ByPass video version.
I can't judge anything by what's on thesession.org - seems faster than the video version, plus I don't really want to hear that key right now when I'm 1st learning it in F/Fm. Haven't even tried to figure out if it might really be a modal key, yet.
I need to get more comfortable playing this at 75% speed... not giving up, but absolutely NO ambition to play this faster! (lol)
So, if I want to play along with one of those 3 from loopz, "Grammaphone" is the only one that is available down to the 60 BPM I need.
Doesn't sound very fast, does it? 😕

yup gramaphone is a close match for sure! how'd i miss that one.!? i think i just jumped right into presonus and started messing with drums.. i had the original in one ear and drums (presonus) in the other try to match. i tried looking at waveforms on the track which got me close but always kept hearing more and more...then uhhhmmmm thwn id be like...now i dont hear that thing anymore now i hear this thing.. lol
i can slow down and reupload but i think with loopz and the original you seem to have it covered.
isnt Fm modal? being a smartsaa there..lol
Fm may be a good one for position changes?
as far as "putting up with" thing...i and probably others that read your post get info from them too. if nothing else it keeps stuff in the brain bouncing around. interesting topics and discussiin to me.

Since this is such a great thread on Rhythm!
Ran across this interesting short video - "FOLI (there is no movement without rhythm) original version by Thomas Roebers and Floris Leeuwenberg". Great written prologue/description under the video. "Barro Rhythm"
This reminded me of one of my all time favorite Films, "The Blind Swordsman: Zatoichi" (2003 - love the earlier films, too). This film makes music and rhythm an integral part of a unique musical/action/drama that took my emotions on a wild rollercoaster ride! Absolutely LOVE THIS! Here's 2 samples of GREAT rhythm - in short clips.
Most people are familiar with the Stage Show, "STOMP". Here's a celebration video for over 10,000 performances (2017).
"Blue Man Group" is always creative, and entertaining with rhythm! Browse here.
Cool Rhythms in the Indian Music Structure thread - specifically, Posts No.6, 9 and 18.
Keep a little rhythm in your life, every day!
...that's Kevin, standing with glasses - out of sync. (lol)

Talkin' GROOVIN' Here!
...or how to get groovin' - making backing tracks?
I admit, 1st time you mentioned "hihats", I had to look it up... so I gots lots to learn. (lol)
Decided to stick my nose in some tutorials for making backing tracks.
OMG - I fell in love with the video tutorials from "Hobo". They are simple, clear and hilarious (at least entertaining to me). An example is this "How to Make Music Like Amelie Lens".
How to Make Music Like Amelie Lens
I didn't know "Techno" was Phrygian!
Also, enjoyed tutorials by "Underdog Electronic Music School" - all about "The Groove" there. Easy to understand.
Okay, I'm in trouble, now.
Those YouTube sites turned out to be for "Ableton Live" software.
So, went back to watch some "Presonus Studio One" tutorials at "Marcus Huyskens Music"... just about wanted to 😵 myself , so dry & probably too much info all at once - had a much harder time taking it all in. 😖
Found a comparison on these 2 softwares at Slant. All the Pros & Cons, side by side.
Think I'm even more confused (nothing new).
Thought "Studio One" was supposed to be easier to use, but at what price? And I don't mean "$".
I'm starting to think "Ableton Live" might be better now, for creativity.
Don't really want to wander off from the "Groovin' & Making Rhythm" subject here, but I kinda need a little help figuring which software might be better in the long run - so I can get down to making the Groovin' happen!
Just like to know - anyone currently using, or previously used, "Ableton Live"?
