I’ve known about Interlochen’s in-person Summer programs for adults (College for Creative Arts), but they now also have online programs, too.

I’ve just completed a certificate program for basic Music Theory through their online program (consisted of three 4-week courses). I enjoyed the courses—the instructor was outstanding, and the online experience was great.

In addition to music, they have courses in other areas of the Arts (writing, theatre, visual arts, etc.,)

Info for their online programs are on their main site:

@SharonC -

Congratulations!!!

That course was MUCH longer than I originally thought (must've flown over my head 🥴)!

I read what they said they'd cover in the course & see another one starts up again - in just a few days.

What got YOU the most fired-up/excited to learn about?

@ELCBK  Thanks!

I should have included a link directly to what the Music Theory Basics Certificate program is--it is here:

https://www.interlochen.org/on.....te-program

A lot of the 1st course I knew/understood, but as we progressed through the 2nd and 3rd courses, we got into more terms I was not as familiar with and got to apply them in assignments (e.g., Cantus Firmus & species counterpoint, etc.,).

I thought all the material was excellent, but I think the last part of the course was particularly good, with developing a motive—with explanations of the types of motive transformations--and expanding it (cadence, phrase, sentence, period, etc.,).
