So, while Kevin was having a little vacation this past week (without me... or from me?) he talked about some memories of places growing up.
It reminded me about his ancestry (which is much easier to trace than mine). One Grandfather was from Karlskrona - the ONLY Baroque City in Sweden, declared a UNESCO World Heritage site (1998), along with the famous Naval Port. Kevin told me the port never freezes & I saw on the map & in a video it has a beautiful little archipelago.
It's the Capital of Blekinge County, the historical Province of Blekinge - the southeast end of Sweden. Blekinge was part of Denmark for a while in earlier history.
Anyway, I found an album of fabulous traditional music from the Blekinge Spelmansforbund! Still enjoying listening, tried a few - but haven't looked for any notation, yet.
Haven't told Kevin anything, but bought a copy on eBay. He was complaining about not having any good music to listen to on his trip - going to make sure he has this in the car from now on. I know he'll like it, but may it not replace ZZ Top. (lol)
Here's the album playlist (28 tracks):

They do talk about becoming a member & using 'ScoreCloud' on their site.

Alright, I confess - I like them ALL!
I did want to talk about this track a little... 'Engelska' - to me, it immediately reminded me of a tune you probably know! Of course it translates as 'English', and they do have several others on their other album (all different!).
What do you think?
The Blekinge Spelmansforbund has another album that includes other Swedish tunes.
