I looked at this seriously for moment, then I had this thought:

I saw this pic on Facebook this morning. Thought it was pretty funny I wouldn't do it. I think using my violin is better. I also wonder if it might mess up the bow hair.

I wasn't sure if this is a joke or if someone is really doing it.

@HDuaneaz Well, you've got my curiosity up.  I'm not sure either: looks like a link didn't come through in your post.

Sorry, I couldn't get it to post.

Basically, they were using an egg carton.

straw.jpgSo they were bowing on an egg carton?  Yea, it seems like that might damage the bow... not sure about that.

I used another 'low tech' method of practicing to bow straight... the humble flexi-straw!

I like the flex-straw. I have seen some people in videos use toilet paper tubes.

Hahaha! That's AWESOME!!!

I love your creativity!

Do You play on the side that is closer to the bridge, or to the fingerboard, or both, depending on dynamics?

I play on the side between the straw and the bridge.

And actually, the idea came from my 7 year old grandson.  Leave it up to a kid !

This deserves mention again. Great inexpensive method!
