Regulars

I know a handful (or more?) of the regular forum members have been dieting.
Thought this might be a good place to support each other in this endeavor!
I started my most recent 'diet' (lifestyle change) the beginning of this month (actually June 30th). I weigh myself Monday mornings in prep for a weekly zoom meeting for the VA's 'MOVE' program.
Aware the 1st pounds that come off are usually attributed to water loss from reduced carb intake, I've taken this into consideration. Haven't eliminated starchy carbs, or reduced my carbs as much as I have in the past, but balanced with protein & making sure I drink more H20. Still lost 17lbs as of Monday, even though I can't physically exercise as much as I'd like to.
It was extremely difficult for me to start this diet. I've been very stressed out, frustrated, depressed, not sleeping - some of it over failed attempts with other diet strategies this last couple years (thank goodness for my fiddle).
I knew I only needed to see some slight progress to completely change all the negativity - kinda like learning to play the violin, right? Luckily this is finally happening, now.
...except I just realized I've been typing too much & NOT drinking enough H20 today!!!
Hope other dieting members here will share how things are going! 🤗

@Gordon Shumway -
Thanks, I have been following you.
Congratulations on what you've lost so far!
Anything you're doing differently about dieting, compared to things you might've done in the in the past?
I've had trouble trying to make sure my new scale calibrates correctly, because I don't leave it out on the floor. I also don't think there's a perfectly flat, hard surface anywhere in my house! Decided I'll just have to accept it 'could' be off - just be happy to see the numbers getting smaller.
...thought you might want to share more here, since the other thread is about your wonderful meeting with Fiddlerman.

If anything!

Yes, the only thing you can do is stick to one set of scales, same time of day, same spot, and hope the numbers go down. Relative weight is all that matters.
Yesterday I tasted Granola for the first time. I can't wait for the pack to empty so that I never have to buy any more!

So approx 3500 calories to lose 1 pound. That can be a combination of less food and and more activity. I believe Ive read shooting for about one pound a week is the max. anything more gets a bit extreme... im not a knowledgable healthcare person.. but ive read and watched alot of info and had some success implimenting what i did.
what helped me is logging all food in the myfitness pal app. ALL. even those 3 peanuts or a spoon of peanut butter. I found LOTS of hidden calories throughtout the day. butter used in cooking.. milk or creamer... sugar. of course exercise helps..has helped me. but sometimes thats not doable. so it boils down to less food. oatmeal has helped with being made to feel full. not saying do that.. but you asked.
patience and consistency. and be easy on yourself. small steps for wins that build up over time.
