Do you have interests other than the violin?
While I do a lot of fishing and camping, I have another passion. One that may pay off big time for those who inherit my 'estate'
I'm rather fond of vintage and antique silver. The most recent piece that I have is 1950, and the oldest is 1743.
The photo below is part of my collection from all over the globe. I call it my 'Aladdin's Cave' . I also have a nice collection of silver militaria going back to WWI, with pieces from Brittan, New Zealand, USA, Germany, and of course, Australia.

Other than music in general, I like cooking and drawing. Does sleeping count?
@Ferret You sure we can't come? I'm sure my dad would be happy to. (My brother too, he's obsessed with Australia right now.)
Talk to me about it.

That is a very nice collection.
Other passions, sure lots of them, it's just finding the time to fit them in. I tend to do them at different stages/times of the year.
First & foremost is singing & playing guitar. Now the violin - really anything music based. I have a keyboard too-hoping to get my kids involved in that.
Before the kids, my husband and I had more time to ride our motorcycles to the mountains, or take a long weekend and ride to Virginia or the beach. Now with 2 young-ins (4 & 7) it's on hold until they get a little older or I can convince my parents to watch them more often. And before anyone asks, I ride my own motorcycle not on the back of his.
I love most things tech, I'm a computer support person at my job. From time to time I might tinker on a computer during my "down time" at work.
I garden about every other year during the fall with a must have every year of Collards. Gardening is very peaceful too me. It gives me time to reflect and think back on how blessed I truly am.
Patience is necessary to learn the violin: But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.-James 1:4
When I get discouraged: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.-Philippians 4:13

My passion is truly horses. I grew up raising, training and breeding Quarter horses. Now that i'm married my husband is helping me live my dreams(around the main paying job of course) of owning my own horse stable focused more on the training aspect. competing is great fun every once in a while but i truly love training horses. The world could be falling apart around me but when i'm with horses, and especially my own, all that matters is just the moment. everything truly fades away Hopefully i'll be able to get my operation up and running so i can train horses, as well as give lessons to those who wish to learn and embrace the expensive addiction known as "horse fever" lol
I think the violin and i get along so well purely because the bow is horse hair, and i happen to just love wood. makes my day!!!

My passion is photography and has been for most of my life. My other passions are sewing, learning to play the violin (this is fast becoming my second favorite next to my photography), and learning to paint with oils.

In my time away from fiddle, I enjoy two things:
1) Shooting civil war era guns in a group called the N-SSA (North South Skirmish Association). Imagine reenacting meets shooting club and you get the idea. It's more about the competitive shooting than it is about the history or dressing up but everyone knows what a reenactor is. Actually, when I'm good enough to 'play' the fiddle, I look forward to combining these two passions and learning some old civil war era tunes. Picture below is me waiting to shoot at one of our national competitions with my team. Notice the smoke in the background from the musket phase that is currently shooting.
2) Building things out of wood. I've always enjoyed doing this...probably from watching my dad doing projects growing up. I've done jewelry boxes, toy chests, all the way up to a deck for our house. Picture below is a set of corn hole boards I made a couple of years ago.

Gardening and fiber art [knitting, needle and wet felting]
I help produce this show every year:

I am co-chair for our neighborhood Garden Tour that is held the last Sunday in June.
Every year my son takes over 300 photographs of the gardens on the tour. I choose the one that takes my breathe away and it is made into a poster.
When I transferred my documents to this new laptop, I lost all the past pictures and posters!! I have not told him yet. But I think I have a way out. We have 4 - 8 artists painting in the gardens and a few years ago instead of his photographs we used a painting.
If you google - Irvington garden tour posters images you can see some of them. OH no!! I just now see that we have also lost the posters that were on our website!!!! AARRGGHH!!! My name is mud!!

If you like working with wood perhaps you should download the cigar box fiddle plans that I posted a while back.

I'm going to give it a try when I get the time. I've already bought my cigar box

When I was in the Philippines a few weeks back I bought a new Canon EOS 1100D and am having a great time with it. A very versatile camera but there sure are a lot of 'buttons'
