Well, the printer just broke. Bummer. We have had it quite a while, so we did get out money's worth. We will be going to Staples tomorrow or later today.

I was trying to print off a booklet to an online class I am taking. I hate reading these things on my computer or devices. Oh well. Tomorrow I can print it. At least I got the supply list. I need that when I go to the art store.

We bought a new one, @ABitRusty. This one works with my laptop. The one that stopped working originally worked with my laptop, but sometime last year, it was a no go, but it worked with everything else, pads, other laptops, computers. I can now print from my laptop again without emailing what needs printing to myself, so I can print from my ipad.

I printed off the supply list and the course's PDF's. All set to start, after we get my supplies tomorrow.

Ditto. I only ever use printers for text or music, so a black and white auto-duplex is all I need. Cheap on ink too. Actually, no, the last time I looked at a (high capacity) cartridge it was pretty expensive.

@Gordon Shumway, I actually use a color one. Some of the material I needed printing yesterday was for a watercolor painting class, and watercolor paint writing, like calligraphy, class. The colors don't match exactly, but they are real close with this printer.

I print off my knitting machine info, and some of that, for what I am using to learn it, is color coded. It isn't really that easy to do, machine knitting, so I need all the help I can get. Nobody around here does it, so I don't have anything, except what I find online.

The new one is a lower profile, much better, seems quieter, also. Same brand and pretty much the same as the old one, but the model number changed, and the ink cartridges we had for the other will not work with this one, figures. It works the same, but it has been updated and replaces the other model that decided it was time to rest.

The other one was probably 10 years old and made a trip to Vegas for the Fall-Spring and back, when we used to do that. The following year we left it here, we just bought one in Vegas to leave in Vegas, rather than pack it and drive it back and forth. So, I think it deserved a rest.

I like not seeing that taller one on the table it sits on. This new one is shades of gray, so it matches my room colors, too. I didn't notice that at BJ's when we got it. 👍

If you’re using HP, Canon, Epson, or Brother printer, there is a cheaper alternative for ink by a company called Smart Ink.  I’ve been using it for my HP printer for the last 5 years with no problems, both black & color cartridges.  Printer will display “ink cartridge not an authorized HP cartridge” or something to that effect, but it works just fine, and much cheaper than the "authorized" ones.

I’ve always bought it from them through Amazon, but their website is here, where you can put in your printer brand & model to find the compatible cartridge.
