Yeah.  We're having goose and red cabbage. What do Americans have, more turkey (after thanksgiving)?

We are having a pork loin, scalloped potatoes, freshly made applesauce, and anything else I come up with. Just. 4 of us. I also have some home made cranberry muffins.

We don't even have a turkey dinner for Thanksgiving. For the two of us, just too much.

If you know where to go you can get very cheap turkey legs after the event. They are great poached, with pasta and tomato and olive sauce.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Solo Christmas dinner for me, because I'm too tired to travel after doing a lot of orchestra librarian work. I'm still doing some more elaborate cooking than usual, which is what I've done in recent years when unable to go anywhere (pandemic and then long COVID).

This morning I did get out to an orchestra friend's Christmas brass play-along party, which he hosts at his house every Christmas Eve morning. (I haven't played a brass instrument in a long time, so I just listened, but it's got me thinking about maybe getting a trombone and trying to knock off some rust before next Christmas.)

This year I have bone-in turkey thighs that I'm planning to roast with a Sichuan-inspired spice rub and top with a cilantro-chive chimichurri. I'm planning to pair it with roasted root vegetables (red daikon, jicama, and carrots), braised endives, and possibly Chinese scallion pancakes.

while not traditional.. im not embarrased to say microwave curry packets mixed with white rice and some kimchi on the side will be eaten by me tomorrow while we binge watch what im sure will be romcom movies on hallmark.

🙂

ill be cooking ham and some casseroles for the kids this weekend though. 😉

On my own I have been more than  happy with microwave curry on Xmas day. With my current gf of 28 years we've had random things - roast beef, duck, chicken, goose and even egg and chips once !

My husband and I were invited to some friends for Christmas dinner.  Their tradition is Lasagna!  We are looking forward to our 1st Christmas Lasagna!

Merry Christmas to Fiddlerman, the Fiddlershop

& all of the Forum Family!!!

I survived another year's 'gift wrapping/decorating marathon from hell'!  ...relaxing for a minute while everyone else supervises a simple prime rib roast with root vegetables (nothing fancy this year).

I made cloth drawstring bags of different sizes last year. The plan was that I would get them back to reuse. They took them home. I should have said something.

I did make the size boxes I needed this year to wrap. Easier to wrap a scarf, etc in a box. I did request the boxes back. 😂 None of the boxes I had were the right size and would have required way more wrapping paper than needed, if I use those oversized ones,
