Hi, fiddle-friends;
Maybe you noticed I was gone for a while (or maybe not); a week ago I was in Bozeman, Montana, USA for my wife's high school reunion, home in Pulllman, WA, USA for part of Tuesday, and then off to Seattle for my oldest daughter's wedding. She got married on Thursday on the Scansonia, a retired ferry boat. Lots of post wedding parties and activiteis kept us there until Sunday. No live music there, so I did not contribute to this wedding like @Ferret did for his kid. But, was I was plenty busy without fiddling, too.
Now I am home; Borderline Blue has a gig on Friday night in nearby Moscow Idaho, and while I'll mostly play lead guitar, I will play the violin on Amarillo By Morning. (but I am nowhere close to Buddy Spicher) Maybe this time we will have it loud enough in the mix.
Once that gig is past I'll have time to work on something new on the violin, although in a week my other band, Soulstice, is playing at a winery dinner that is already sold out; all just guitar or lap steel for me in that band. We are working on Doobie Brothers' Black Water, and I will do the viola part (but I am nowhere close to Novi Novog) but we probably won't be ready for that song at that gig
Anyway, I am done with hectic travel for a while so should be around the fiddle forum some more and occasionally fiddle chat.

It's great to hear you had a good time
Seen it all. Done it all. Can't remember most of ..... What was I saying????

Hi Gary.. busy times for you. How lovely that your girl got married.
Good luck on your gig.
So very very nice to see you.
I love Amarillo by Morning on the violin.
I have played "Angel" by Sarah M a few times lately. It is getting easier for me. I really like it. Working on the Thaxted Project and some fiddle tunes. And soon I will be playing like a pirate, and then I will get back on track with Swan Lake.
Cheers.

Well, I thought I was back, but the rest of August was hectic too. On a sad note, an old high school friend was killed in a motorcycle accident (collided with a Seattle city bus), and two weeks later my 26 year old nephew died ; stabbed in a parking lot in broad daylight in a Tacoma, WA suburb, leaving behind a pregnant wife and two small children. So, August started extra happy with a wedding but ended extra sad with a funeral.
As for music, had 3 gigs in the last 4 weeks; The first was with Soulstice (7 piece classic rock band) at a Winery dinner. Mostly electric guitar but i used the violin on "Landslide" (Fleetwood Mac)
Then with the blues/jazz/eclectic trio, Borderline Blue, played at a Winery and a week later at a CiderHouse (like a beer brew pub only hard cider). In those I played mostly electric guitar but violin on Amarillo By Morning, Evil Ways (Santana) , and Tennessee Waltz. No video, but I have a 16 multitrack audio recording of all three gigs, recorded on a Cymatic Audio LR-16 Live Recorder connected to the mixer. If I get the time to extract the songs with violin and mix them down into stereo tracks, maybe i will post them. I am back to working on Black Water (Doobie Brothers). When its ready I'll video it for all y'all.
And, last week I celebrated my 60th birthday (Some Scotch was involved) (thanks for the Happy Birthday wishes, Toni @coolpinkone ). I still feel like a youngster of 59, though.

@gwscheer - man what a horrid time you've had - sorry to hear the bad news. But good to hear you've been "on the road gigging" - if / when you get the chance to mix down your tracks we would love to hear them !!!
Oh - and by the way - a belated Happy Birthday ! In spite of everything else, I hope that went well - yeeee haaaa - 60 eh? I can just about remember that one....
