I think I'm in big trouble, now!
All SEVEN of my Grandchildren (9 and under) were over for Thanksgiving, yesterday.
My 2nd youngest Grandchild wanted to know more about my violin!
He's going to turn 3 on Xmas. 🥰
I held my violin & let him have my bow.
I was astonished, didn't even have to tell him not to grab the bow hair!
He held it at the frog.
With one hand!
A little harsh to start, so I lifted the bow slightly and said, "a little lighter".
That's it, sounded better than me - in less than a minute!
...bowed straight, too! 🤗
I'M SO HAPPY!
🤔 ...just not sure what that says about my playing. 😳

🤣 I started that thread!
I think all my Grandkids will get into some instrument. They've been handling less breakable forms very early. Their Dad still plays guitar regularly.
The 5 year old Twins seem very serious about music, but they all show interest.
I think it's important, especially during these times, for kids to have as many ways as possible to express themselves and build confidence.
Playing an instrument can provide that. 😊

I had hoped my two children would be interested in music but it seems their favourite form of expression is what they can build in Minecraft !

… it says that you're a good example. After all, unless there's another violin player close to him, he learned this by watching you 😉 (impressive how easily children can learn just by imitation/immersion - no theory - languages etc)

Well, I suppose it's only fair that the 5 year old gets to try 1st, but this IS the year I've been waiting for!
...just was hoping my skills were a little better, so I could actually be of some help. 🙄

I understand completely. You should see 4 Kids fight over 2 tablets at one time 🤪 - they have a special timer that gets set for video games -15 minutes!

Thank you!
I don't get to see the 2 youngest ones as often as the others, so it's always a treat to play for them.
It will be a noisy... 🤭 musical, Christmas this year!
Hope you ALL have a Very Merry Christmas!
