My Nespresso arrived early this afternoon. My extea pods and recycle bags arrived too.

My daughter ordered it for me. She should get her check soon. Pony Express mail, now, 😂😂😂

Having a cup of Strawberries and Chocolate. Have a cold, but it still tastes great!

Sounds great - hadn't thought of that flavor for coffee!

🤔... I can't give up my Fiddlershop coffee!  Jordan's does make a strawberry skinny syrup that could be added to their chocolate.

I liked the Fiddlershop coffee a couple years ago when I had some. It had a nice flavor. That was why I bought a grinder. But, sometimes I only need one cup. It is wastes a lot of coffee to make a pot with my brewer. The smallest amount I can make is 20 oz which is more than I drink at a time. The rest gets tossed.

This tastes much better than Keurig, which I used to use, Plus, I have recycle bags labeled to use to send the pods to wherever they recycle them. These are aluminum, not plastic pods. Nespresso included the postage paid labeled recycle bags, 2 of them. We just take them tp  UPS pickup spot. There is one down the road, not too far.

Never had nesspresso, I have a de longhi machine and a cheap grinder, the price of coffee over here though is ridiculous, but the only way to get a good cup is make it yourself.

The coffee from all the major shops, like starbucks and nero, and most smaller shops as well actually is around 3.80 for a flat white, which is probably about 6 dollars us. The coffee you get normally has half a pint of milk as well and very little coffee in it, doesnt matter what you ask for, its always a cup of basically milk, the kids over here wouldnt drink real coffeee they are used to milkshakes, and of course profiteering with the shops.

Be interesting to know what the cost is over there and what coffee shop coffee is like, in europe ou can get a brilliant flat white, really strong and dark for 2 euros which is about 1.60 English pounds.

True. I once ordered something large expecting two shots of espresso in it, but I just got a pint of off-colour milk for my money.

I think in coffee shops they have such a high turnover of staff that no-one is trained.

Nowdays I only have coffee in Greggs and I only order a large black (I can't be arsed with flat whites annd Americanos). That way there's no possibility of error.

Italian coffees such as Lavazza are over-rated. Currently I'm drinking Lidl's 100% Arabica instant at home - it's half the price of Nescafé. Grinding it just gets coffee dust all over the kitchen, and the cost of my favourite coffee - Drury Café de Paris - has more than doubled since I last ordered any. I order it pre-ground and keep it in the freezer.

You are correct about the Lavazza, I bought a block of it and thought it would be excellent, how wrong could I get. I buy my beans fron lidl believe it or not, not bad coffee at all if ground fine enough and compressed hard enough, I used to get Tescos own but they just put the price up from 4.50 to 6.60, in the space of a week. My favourite beans used to be taylors, but they have gone from being jet black to a mid brown colour.

That Drury sounds interesting (apart from price)never heard of that one, not tried gregs either, but might give it a go.

I did have an absolute cracker in a shop on portobello road, it was run by a turkish bloke, the coffee was like syrup it was so thick, and without asking him he actually said how much milk do you want. Once i had drunk it I was bouncing round like a ping pong ball.

I think you have more chance of getting two shots from a magnum than two shots of coffee :)

Yes, maybe I should get an espresso machine or just a bialetti - but I've been using a cafetiere for as long as I can remember. Problem is I need to drink a large amount of liquid in the mornings, so instant may be simplest (last time I was in hospital was in the evening, and the phlebotomist showed me that all she was getting out of my vein was air! I'd had what I thought was another heart attack at lunchtime, so I hadn't really drunk anything all day and she said I should be drinking at least a litre of liquid each morning to rehydrate, but I can't drink tea in the mornings, as it tastes like dishwater). I'll have to do what they do in Italy - drink espresso and water.

@stringy I also love to get my coffee at Lidl.  Its actually really good quality and free trade.  Dawson Taylor brand is my most favorite coffee, they are a roaster in Boise, Idaho and when I feel like a splurge I order online (or have friends bring some when they come visit)

The beans I've bought recently and ground myself were from Sainsbury's, then from Waitrose - anything on special offer. I gave up Sainsbury's basics because they are no longer 100% Arabica just "100% coffee".

And I gave up because it just tasted bad (I'd given up milk and sugar), probably because I'd forgotten how strong to make it - I should maybe start at the beginning and put one measure per cafetiere, then 2 then 3 until I get a suitable strength. But also when you make a litre of coffee, it's a bit oppressive and off-putting to think that you have to drink it all! Maybe for that quantity it should always be weak.

I have no idea what this thread is supposed to be about, lol. George Clooney? Pah, I make him look like Walter Matthau.

===================

Thinking about it, I should probably get rid of the 1L cafetiere and get a sensible-sized bialetti.

Incidentally I love Greek coffee (done in a Greek coffee pot, natch). Charalambous is the best.

I just posted a silly post about my Nespresso a d have been watching the thread just keep going. Talk about whatever you want. 😂😂😂😂😂 Maybe it should have been called "Rambling Thread" I should rename it.

Speaking of "Rambling", wasn't there a Rambler Car a long time ago 50-60 or so years back?

@Kennon Not seen the one you mention , maybe we dont have the same brands available over here as in the states, but I am keeping my eyes open next time I go in there for that one.

Mouse, coffee is a very serious subject and not to be laughed about;) Really though, dont know what I would do without a few cups a day, one of lifes great pleasures I think, (even though I do have sugar), remember a couple of years ago I had a tooth out and the dentist said dont drink alcohol or coffee till the following  day , alcohol was no problem, even though I love red wine, but by 9 at night I was climbing the walls from lack of coffee, lol.

Never heard of a rambler car by the way.

Maybe the Rambler was must in the US. I think GM made it. I don't think it was sold for more than a couple years. Probably mid 60's.

I never liked coffee until I was around 35 or so.

Ah, Rambler was made by American Motors. Nash Rambler.

https://muscle-car.fandom.com/.....MC_Rambler

I din't know why it is listed with muscle cars in fandom. When I think of muscle cars, Rambler is not one of them, 😂.

I prefer bikes to cars, but I never passed my bike test, never got round to it. Once I had my car licence I was like a taxi for everyone ;). I am seriously thiniing of getting a trike though, because in the UK you can drive a trike on a car licence, the only thing that has stopped me up to now is the cost, very expensive for a toy. I may take the bike test and get a sportster, but in the UK its not the easiest test due to the 50 odd questions in the theory test, even though I have been driving 30 years lol

I take it you are talking about a motorized bike, like a motorcycle, and a three-wheeled motorcycle? I thought about learning how to do that when I was younger. Never did.

I used to ride bikes, the pedal kind when I was younger, After I got married I moved to the country, but on a main road. Absolutely no place to safely ride a bike. I miss that, yet, today.

I grew up in a small town and was able to bike any place I wanted to go, including 15 miles, or a little more, to the closest beach and then 15 miles back. Today, in that same area, not sure I would. There are more cars on the road now than when I grew up. I miss the bike riding.

Correct mouse, I should have made myself clearer, I tend to write what I think without really explaining. I did mean a motorcycle type trike, maybe a Harley Davidson, or some other, or a sportster which is  a Harley Davidson motorcycle, the 2 wheeled kind. I did ride a triumph chopper, once (english motorcycle) belonged to a friend, most of whom were bikers at the time.

Nothing wrong with pedal cycles either, I used to really enjoy riding them at one time too, fresh air, open spaces and the sounds and smells of the countryside, good for the soul.

Thats a long cycle ride 15 miles each way, but when you are enjoying something the distance slips into the past before it registers in the muscles, and the memory stays forever.

There were  lot of hills. At the end to get down to the lake, there was a big hill. Nice when arriving, but when I went back home, I was tired and it was an uphill battle!

My 1st husband had a Sportster.  Ashamed to say how fast we'd ride, and he'd let the darn thing drive itself (no hands)... amazing what alcohol & hormones does to folks - and crazy it was chain driven!  I talked Kevin into a Honda Magna when our daughter was still young.  We couldn't afford a Harley back then - this was when Honda came out with the V4 engine, shaft driven.

I'm still drinking Fiddlershop Coffee! 🥰  Kevin's been grinding the beans with an electric burr grinder, then the Aeropress makes one cup strong enough I can dilute it for a big mug in the morning.

Sainsbury sell a brand of coffee called 'Union' which I think is the best I've had from a supermarket. I make espresso with their 'Revelation' variety beans. They actually put the roasting date on the pack so you know what you're getting - I've had packs that were only roasted a couple of weeks before, though it's usually a month to six weeks.

The only drawback is it's pricey, so I buy the big packs and keep them in a well-sealed container in the garage to help them stay fresh.

When I got my first house I couldn't afford a car any more so I got a (motor) bike to go to work on.  I passed my bike test on a Honda 125 then moved onto a Honda 200, so no flying machines! As soon as I could afford it I got another car, though I still rode my bike occassionally until it got nicked. I'm far to doddery now to ride a bike though!

Emily must admit I hadnt heard of the Honda magna, so I looked it up, lovely looking bike, and extremely fast to say the least. Hondas are great bikes very reliable, my friend who I have mentioned a couple of times the luthier, who made the bouzouki for me, hada a full dresser goldwing, he had to get rid though when he had 2 kids and so bought a people carrier instead:( I have always liked the look of Harleys, something about them, my missus isnt keen on me getting a bike though, she thinks I am mental enough as it is lol

Those revelation beans sound interesting Jim I may give them a try, always on the look out for different ones. I was on the verge of getting one of those little turkish coffee pots, for on the stove, to see if I could get the same style coffee they make using beans from a supermarket, bit involved though
