Ok, I just got off the phone with an insulin pump company.
Last year I contacted them, around January, about a battery issue. "Oh, nobody else has that problem. We will send you a new one." Got the new one, same problem. Called again in about 3 months, same response, received another one. Same problem. Called again, by now it is around September. This is Sept. 2022, mind you. This started around January 2022 when I started having issues, for an insulin pump, not optional medical equipment.
Long story made not so long, when I called in September, I was told they are sending replacements, and I received an email about it. I received another email on Dec 22. I had to submit a form. Did that and received a confirmation email.
I am still waiting for the pump with the battery that will not fizzle. Beeps in the middle of the night, dead pump battery, recharging every day, and still fizzles during the night at times. Great fun.
I decided to call them again. Hmmm, new customer service number. The number in my contacts did not work. THEY KNEW I WAS GOING TO CALL! LOL. No problem, got the new number off the site, they did not fool me!
I called. She said, "Oh, it looks like you have not called in a while." My mind was spinning. Do people call more than I have? Think about it, I have done nothing but call since January 2022, Then it was question after question, my phone number, address, email address, did what I am calling about cause me any medical issues. At that point I cut in.
I said, "Ma'am, can I please tell you what I am calling about, and then if you have questions that apply to my issue, you can ask them. I just spent 20 minutes on your site trying to get my date of birth in (will explain that)."
"Sure, I just wanted to make sure we have the correct information."
I proceeded to tell her that I received in email in Dec 22, 2022 about receiving the replacement for the pump that has needed replacing for over a year. I told her that I have yet to receive it. I said that I went to submit again, the way the birthdate is entered was updated and I could not do that ( again, unbelievable and I will tell you that part).
She looked and said the replacements with my replacement seem to be held up in the distribution center. I am thinking, since DECEMBER 2022? I told her that these are pieces of medical equipment and are needed by your customers. I told her, that I know it is not her fault, but I am getting a little frustrated. She said she was going to put me on hold and see if she can overnight one to me. She got permission, and double checked my address, again. So, it should arrive tomorrow, I am thinking Thursday because it is late in the day.
Now, the birthday information, and you are not going to believe what the genius software techies did.
There is a box. The minute you click in the box a calendar pops up. Okay. BUT, you get Feb 21, 2023, today's date? People are born today and need the pump? They want your month, day and year. Really? It gets better. You cannot select a year, month and day. You have to back up one month at a time, from Feb 21, 2023. I had to go back more than 50 years, people. That was at least 50x12, meaning more than 600 clicks because I had to go back more than 50 years. If you missed the backup arrow, you have to start over. I never got back all the way. The furthest I got was Nov 1983. That is when I called the company.
When we were done, I also asked her to pass along my thoughts on that idiotic way to enter the date of birth. I said, just let me type it in. We kind of joked about it. She thought that was a bad idea, too.
So, after all of that frustration, I am laughing about it, because ... well what else is there to do?
I hope you enjoyed my little story. I sure hope it arrives soon, if not, if I have to call, If I have to call, I hope I get her again. We did have fun. She was really good. Like I told her, it is not her fault.
