I love love love a good orange. Lately, I have not been able to get any good juicy sweet oranges. I was able to get some back in November, but after that, they are either not juicy or sweet, or else they are juicy, but not flavorful! I think the ones my local grocery store are from CA this time. They are usually really good, but not lately. Florida has good oranges, but for some reason, they are not in our local store, as of late.

Such a bummer!

I remember when Jer worked, his boss used to have a case of Florida oranges and Texas ruby red grapefruit sent to us. They were always so good, but that was decades ago. I think the Rotary Club his boss belonged to sold them to raise money, and every year we would be given a case of them.

I might have to stop buying oranges, seems to be a waste of money right now. Maybe they will be better next year, or in a month or two, try again.

Oranges are seasonal, but I don't know when or how long the season lasts, and it depends where it is. Here in the uk we get them from Spain or Israel or South America or Africa, and we are at the mercy of the importers, so we rarely get satisfaction.

The cases we received were at this time of year.

I don't buy them online, just at the store. I want to see them, The Rotary Club must have had a very dependable source because they were excellent every year.

I need to find a store with reliably good oranges here. Nothing like buying a bunch of oranges and find they have no flavor. I have narrowed down to not getting the large ones. The smaller tastes better, and the large are too big anyway.

I need to check to see if maybe it is a bad year for oranges. I should be able to Google search that. Maybe that is the problem. I won't buy any more this year, if it was a bad year. Oh, well, got my frustration and disappointment out, 😂😂😂. Thanks Gordon Shumway and ABitRusty.

We were heavily hit by the devastating Hurricanes Helene and Milton.  I think you can attribute the scarcity of Florida oranges to that.

@Unfretted Yep. So true. If we get early frosts, the apple orchards are mostly toast.

November is early for oranges, I think. I live in California, and my parents in Texas have orange trees. In both places, impression is that the best oranges seem to be later in the season, right around New Year.

This also might not be a great year for California oranges. The supply of local oranges at the farmers' markets seems to be lower than most years. We had weird weather this fall, including some big storms of the type we normally only see in January-February. My area had its hottest-ever October, immediately followed by one of the coldest Novembers on record.

I bought some local grapefruit this week and had one last night. It was disappointing.

The movie Chinatown is a mixed bag, but probably worth watching at this juncture, lol.
