Since staying at home a little ober a month, I have lost weight. We aren’t going out to eat.

Not making light of it, just something I noticed.

@Mouse and others.  Good for you.

Good luck. I've joked "fold, don't scrunch" on two forums and been blanked both times!

ROFL - that is hilarious. I do however believe that many people use toilet paper for more than what it was designed for. I'm not a bidet user, but I wonder how much paper a person who uses a bidet uses, or do they use any at all.... but, I really don't want to think about that. LOL
It's a good thing in the long run that people learn to get a long with less toilet paper. As long as they stay clean right?

What I have trouble understanding is, why is there a shortage on toilet paper. Did people start pooping more all of a sudden? Do they think it will disappear off the face of the planet therefor purchasing as much as they can????? To me this doesn't make all that much sense.

I had to assume they feared one of the symptoms would be diarrhoea, even though I didn't see why it should be.

@Gordon Shumway - ROFL, it's puzzled the 5-hit outta me as well !!!

I mean, sure, in the absence of paper handkerchiefs, I went through an entire roll in a day some goodly number of years back when I had a horrid cold, you know the sort of thing, sneezing with abundant quantities of nasal excretions which are probably best not described here.....  but, as Alf says above - AFAIK that's also not a symptom of this current plague...

Soooo.... who knows ???

If you're in desperate need, they are probably available on e-bay at $5 per individual sheet .... (plus postage) (plus tax) (plus import duty) (plus identity-theft)  - Ohhh, I do e-bay as dis-service, sorry - there ARE bona-fide sellers, and great buys to be had on e-bay, of course there are....

Nahhhh, I know, its not actually funny at all, just harder to understand than a course on astrophysics....

Take care out there everyone, be safe !

I've also asked on various forums if people think a toilet-roll Ponzi scheme would be illegal. No-one has found that amusing yet, either! I guess my sense of humour is not the same as other people's!

ROFL  @Gordon Shumway - yeah - I too suffer from the "misunderstood humor" paradox (well, yes, I had to work on choosing to use that word, because it certainly is paradoxical to me when I look at some of the other stuff that's supposed to be funny... LOL!!!) -

Then again, I've always blamed that on my Scottish upbringing, and I suppose, the accent is difficult to understand (even when written ?????? )  ....   you sir, therefore do not suffer alone ! :) drummer

I haven't lost weight. I put on a couple of pounds in the past 2 1/2 weeks. We have plenty of food...and toilet paper...in the house to last us a while. We always have a lot of food because we buy a lot in bulk and than vacuum pack into smaller packets or put in a chest freezer in the basement. But, we were getting low on booze! Pennsylvania closed all the state liquor stores two weeks ago as "non-essential", so you can only get beer and wine in PA right now. Luckily, we live close to the New Jersey border, so we went on a "hooch run" this morning and stocked up. It was either there or to the hardware store to buy what I would need to make a still! :o

I got 172 peat pots started with seeds this week in my greenhouse. Four varieties of tomatoes, 5 varieties of peppers, cabbage, herbs and lots of flowers. I also started some lettuce and spinach seeds. Still have squash, carrot, green onion and cucumber seeds I want to start.

I'm teaching myself a new tune I found on the internet called "Downstream" and doing a lot of pattern exercises which I find are helping me a lot.

You all stay well!

Here is "Downstream" from a YouTube video. Very pretty...much prettier than I can play it right now! :)

Due to this isolation I finished 3 books yesterday and believe me that is a lot of coloring.

I used to read a lot of PAW stories online (Post Apocalyptic World).  The lack of tp and coffee was a normal part of the stories.  I believe this is what prompted the rush.

roflol @MrYikes !  Hope all goes well with you and yours there !!!

Keep up the coloring-in !   I've had it up-to-the-neck with Sudoku - in fact it gets scary, as if the answers to the missing numbers just simply appear.....  sad, sad...

Ahoy @mryikes .  My wife just finished sanitizing returned money with a uv lamp assembly.

Regarding the toilet paper issue.  I think the main problem is that the companies what produce tp for offices, hotels, and general industry (the not so posh stuff) is not being distributed to the residential market.

I thought that there would be a run on eggs (which are needed to produce vaccines).  It appears that the government has chicken farms for that need.

India developed an inexpensive ventilator a few years ago using a repurposed cell phone (with an app) which is the operator interface and electronics.  It likely interfaces with the mechanical bits through blue tooth.  I found that nugget via a TED Talk.

Yup. People are home, not at work and using the non-commercial (residential) use made toilet paper, made differently than the not so soft commercial grade. Therefore, the demand for the residential use TP is more than was normally used, and the commercial grade, scratchy, is not being used. They are made differently, not by the same companies. Apparently, the commercial grade factories cannot make the residential softer grade because of the different processing.

Since there are more workers now at home using the residential softer TP, there is a shortage. No hoarding is being done, just a rapid increase in demand. There was a spot on our local news about it. It was actually quite interesting, after I stopped laughing.

I guess, if you could find a warehouse or supply store, like they have for restaurant equipment, that is open for anyone, you could get commercial grade. There is a restaurant supply store around us. Maybe someplace like that for hotels, businesses, etc, would have those big rolls of commercial grade. Out neighbor who ran out got some big commercial rolls from a friend who had to close his restaurant due to COVID. Staples? I know they have kitchen supplies for offices. Maybe they have TP? Oops, just caused a run to all Staples or crashed their site from people going there to check on TP! Sorry Staples!
